I am editing my review, which was originally five stars due to two unsavory experiences with the owner. Having been a loyal customer since they opened, I went in to inquire the owners interest in donating a gift certificate to my agency fundraiser. The owner came out from the kitchen and I politely asked and he said he would give the paper to his dad. His demeanor was cold, no smile, no greeting me. I smiled, thanked him and told him my contact info was on the bottom of the paper. Two weeks went by and I called for a follow up as our event is right around the corner. I called the restaurant and asked the gentleman who answered the phone was very polite. I asked for the owner and explained why I was calling. He said not a problem and he would be happy to get him for me. I was not placed on hold and could hear the gentleman tell the owner who I was and why I was calling. I don't know if we lost the connection (I know for certain I did not on my cell), but the call was ended. Thinking that maybe we lost the connection, I called back and they answered on the second ring. It was not the same gentleman from my first call. I explained that I think the call was dropped and that I was calling to speak to the owner. He said "Yeah, that's me." Again, very cold and sounded irritated. I was halfway through explaining that I had stopped in a couple weeks ago inquiring about a gift certificate donation and was doing a follow up and he interrupted me, saying "Yeah, we're not donating." and hung up on me. Now, I understand not everyone can or is interested in donating, which is completely okay. I have been told no by many places, and always thank them for their consideration and have always had a pleasant experience. This is the first time I have been treated so rudely, especially by the owner of an establishment. I could have chalked up our first interaction to him maybe having a bad day, but or second interaction showed me that this is unfortunately just who he is. A simple "No thank you" or "We are unable to donate at this time" would have sufficed and not left me with a sour taste in my mouth about a restaurant my family and I loved so much. While they can be a little pricey, we would order frequently from them, even after finding out their burgers are not made to order because they are made with a machine, not on a standard grill (told to me by a manager). I found that a little strange, but the taste was there and we enjoyed every experience up until this point. My family has decided to not go back after this experience as we do not want to financially support someone who was unreasonably rude. We both have family that have owned their own business and know how important it is to be kind and respectful to everyone. There was just no reason for this, and again, it's a shame. The managers and staff are always so nice and hopefully the owner can learn something from them.
My boyfriend and I have been dining at Cow Patty's since they have opened and have never been disappointed (only slightly when they are out of the delicious alligator bites...but with how amazing they are, I understand why they sometimes run out). Our burgers are always perfection and their Patty Sauce...sensational!! We were very pleased upon ordering this last time and were told that fries came with the burger now instead of ordering separately. Anything we try here is fantastic and the service is so wonderful. The last time we dined in, the owner (I believe it was her) struck up a conversation with us while we waited for our food and she was the sweetest person, and her personality definitely added to our visit. I LOVE that they source their beef and ingredients locally and you can definitely tell the difference in quality and taste. I highly recommend Cow Patty's to anyone looking for the best burger in town, hands down! As I stated before, their alligator bites are a MUST with cajun dipping sauce. If a little spice is not for you, swap the cajun with the Patty's sauce for an extraordinary flavor experience! We are always looking forward to...
Read moreThe name fits - Do not waste your money or time. I went with my 22 year old son last week. I happen to work in NYC. The menu is rather short and reminds me of an NYC food truck menu with NYC prices. To add insult to injury the food was deplorable. My son ordered a plain cheese burger. This is the ONLY non fast food place in the area at which shockingly they did not ask him how he wanted the burger cooked. Further my son was very clear, explaining twice that he was kindly asking them to please not put anything on the burger and to please do not give him a pickle or coleslaw. He explained it twice. Guess what arrived on the plate? The brioche bun was cute with a little brand on the top. But it was about the size of an average supermarket hamburger bun, not what you'd expect from a brioche bun. This is minor compared to the fact that the burger was reminiscent of one of those supermarket frozen 8 per box burger things. Fries of course were not included. We ordered a side for $4 and change. It was a relatively small portion of passable fries. I ordered the cheese tots with jalapenos. I got tater tots, with a pouring of cheese wiz om them and some sliced jalapenos. Not much in terms of a flavor profile. This restaurant is owned by the same people who ran the previous restaurant at the same location which also lacked god food. Clearly they have not honed their craft. I so want to root for them, they seem nice. And I make a point of trying to support local businesses. The waitress was very nice. I wanted this place to be great. It was not even fair to barely good. Very disappointing. I wish the owners well .But they really need to up their game and lower their prices in this rural-tourism community, put their pride aside and provide a good product at a good price point. Yes, we are willing to pay a slightly higher price for locally sourced ingredients but not if they are not prepared well. There is a balance in a business and clearly the owners and management have not mastered that. A kitschy name and posting "farm to table" will only get you so far if the food is...
Read moreDisappointed. I wanted to like this place very much as there really isn't anything like it around. Sadly, it was very disappointing. The burgers are small. Not unheard of for a craft burger place, so it's almost passable these days, but be warned, they are small, despite the rather high price tag. Also, they don't come with fries, which are extra. There's a gluten-free bun option, which is great to see, but there's literally nothing else on the menu that's gluten free, including many of the ingredients of the specialty burgers. Want the BBQ burger? Sorry, the sauce contains gluten. Chili burger? chili contains gluten. . Want fries? Sorry, shared fryer with gluten items. Our waitress said they could not even say that either the cole slaw or the pickle were gluten free. So if you have a gluten allergy, their mighty gourmet burger menu is reduced to a small hamburger patty on a bun (for $11). Not acceptable. My strong suggestion for the team there is to either develop a proper gluten-free menu or get rid of the gf bun option altogether to avoid angering your customers looking for a legitimate GF dinner
The chili burger is ok. The chili is rather watery, which is a turn off. It was also sort of bland. The hot dogs have a strange taste to them. Not sure what was going on with them but they're definitely not your typical hot dog flavor. Did not like at all, and I've eaten thousands of hot dogs...
In all, I'd say the best thing on the menu by far is the selection of flavored french fry options. They were rather good
Overall, Cow Patty's is a great idea with a deeply flawed execution. The GF issue is outrageous and the portion sizes are too small to justify the price. We're talking $14 for a small burger plus another $5 for fries. $80 for 4 small burgers and fries? This isn't Manhattan...It's a strong...
