Wabash Donut Shoppe — Restaurant in Warsaw

I can't believe a town like Warsaw has 2 great donut shops, Wabash being far better than the other. I moved back to Warsaw from Chicago. I've had them all, Do-Rite, Stan's, Firecakes, Doughnut Vault, ect. Wabash is better than all of them. They truly have the method figured out. The filled donuts have the perfect amount with the perfect distribution, every bite has filling, but it isn't making a huge mess. What Wabash really has figured out is the balance of sweetness. Every donut is perfectly sweet, none of that over sweet, punch you in the gut feeling. The sizes are appropriate, no need to take just half because they don't have giant donuts, but the prices are adjusted appropriately, a dozen only setting you back $10. Recently tried the mochi doughnuts and they were really good, nice and crispy on the outside, kind of flakey, and the inside was nice and stretchy with a pleasant chewy-ness; think Mochi if you've ever had it! The owner (I believe) explained that they were still tweaking the process and hopefully they'll get the size sorted out, because they were a bit small. After reading reviews I decided to give them a try. I went shortly after 5 am since most reviews said they sale out early and I wanted fresh donuts. I was rather unimpressed with the amount of selection. I was also unimpressed when I took my first bite into a donut. It did not taste fresh what so ever, more like the end of a day left over donut that had sat in the case going stale. The only good thing I can say is the amount of filling in the donut was more than expected.
