Sugar Mama's Sweets and Treats — Restaurant in Warwick

This was the worst cupcake I have ever had...hands down. These were ordered for my bridal shower and literally no one ate them, which was very embarrassing since we had these instead of a cake. They tasted extremely dry and stale. I literally could’ve made boxed cupcakes better than these. To prove to you how bad they were since we had so many leftover I had a family member try to take them to a birthday party afterwards since we had so many leftover and none of the kids would eat them there either. Please, if you are trying to host a special event and don’t want to be embarrassed and look like you bought day old cupcakes from stop n shop then stay away from this place. They are not cheap and definitely not worth the price. Plenty of other places out there are more affordable and taste way better. If this place is really making their cupcakes this dry then they seriously need to either reconsider the recipe or stop selling old cupcakes to people that are paying good money and expecting good quality products. Super disappointed.

In response, to the owner's reply below: You left voicemail messages offering to refund the money for the cupcakes saying that you have a small business and the bad review would hurt your business, so I, the bride agreed to take down the review since you were offering to refund the money for the cupcakes because I was trying to be sympathetic to you and wanted to be done with this nightmare. When my sister accepted your offer to be refunded you sent her this message: "My husband was so upset after reading the thread between us that he sent it to our lawyer. He said I have a good case you are defacing my name online over 3 dozen cupcakes after originally saying how much everyone enjoyed and sending pictures. Then you are blackmailing me by saying the review will be down after reimbursement. We sent screenshots of this to all 6 review sites already. He advised me to let you know this is harassment and will be in touch with you this week. Please do not contact me again." My sister was nice to you and was honest and initially told you the cupcakes were good without even trying one yet and after the shower cleaning up and seeing all the cupcakes left behind and more than half left not eaten and asking guests who were trying to be polite and tell us in a nice way they weren't good. You have made this whole process extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional and as a customer it is my right to post a review about my experience and make the public aware of what an interaction with you is like if you are an unsatisfied customer. Telling a customer that they are blackmailing you and harassing you and defacing your name online and telling us to stop contacting you after you keep calling and messaging offering to refund us is both crazy and awful. Your post said you would love to speak to us live to see if you can rectify the situation. How is that possible when you told us not contact you again accusing us of harassing you? Frankly, we don't care about the money, your stale cupcakes ruined my bridal shower and there's no money that can cover that. I just hope no one has to go through what we went through with purchasing anything from you. It is insulting that you are portraying us, the customers as people that are trying to blackmail you for free cupcakes because you can't handle negative feedback. The cupcakes were not good at all and judging by the way you treat your customers, I'm not sure how you're even still in business. We have contacted the Attorney General and provided the voicemail messages and texts on your behalf because this is completely unacceptable behavior to have with a customer. I will be sure to let everyone know about how awful this...

ugh. So bummed. So I am pregnant and have been craving a cupcake for weeks now. This is the only place in North Providence that I could find. First- their hours are 10-3 M-F and 10-1 on Saturdays. Aside from 3 hour window on Saturday- who in their right mind is able to make it to this place during their business hours? Not this working gal.

I found myself working remotely one day and figured this was the perfect opportunity to give this place a try. I called ahead to make sure they are open. They had about 5-7 flavors "in stock" and they were all bizarre. No standard chocolate, vanilla, red velvet (or interesting variations of the classics). Believe it or not- pumpkin was the most normal flavor they had. So I paid my $3 and was on my way.

The frosting was the consistency of refrigerated butter. so after a bite I figured maybe it needs to thaw a tad... so I waited 20 minutes (but still- cupcakes shouldn't need to thaw??). Still the consistency of hard hard butter. the flavor of the frosting was great- but it was so so stiff- I don't know. Nothing like I've seen before. Additionally the frosting was so hard it just kind of fell off the cupcake when I went to eat it 20 mins later.

Now to the actual cupcake. It was small! Not the gourmet cupcake I was expecting. that is for sure. The cupcake was stale and dry. Worse than a grocery store muffin, not quite as dry as a scone. Definitely not fresh. the flavor of the cupcake wasn't anything special- it wasn't bad.. it didn't taste bad... but it was dry- and I couldn't even use the frosting to moisten it up a tad because as I mentioned... that fell off and was hard as cold butter.

I understand that perishable inventory is hard. It can be expensive if business is slow. But the only way you gain repeat business is by offering new customers your best. I lived in California for a while- and sprinkles is always a favorite. Sounds like these Sugar Mama's need a field trip to the golden coast to see how it should be done. Until they get it together- don't go out of your way to come here...

We used Sugar Mama's for my bridal shower and our wedding! And whenever we have a chance to sneak in for a treat. Erin is the best. She made a beautiful naked cake with jam inside for my shower and it was incredible. She made our wedding cake exactly how we asked and it was beautiful. I appreciated how flexible she is with customizing anything to be exactly how you like it. You can trust Erin to make your vision come to life and exceed expectations. For our wedding we got 200 cupcakes for about 160 people and we had only 8 left over! So many people told us they went up for seconds and even thirds, the cupcakes were delicious and a big hit. They offer a great variety of fun flavors which we love and obviously our guests did too. The way Erin set up the cupcake display for our wedding was so beautiful. She definitely takes a lot of pride in what she does and she's a true pro....
