établi — Restaurant in Washington

My wife and I live very close to this restaurant, just a stone's throw up on Rhode Island. There is a large bar, plenty of patio seating for nice spring/fall days, and a comfortable booth or two for slightly larger parties (6 or less).

We each got a flight, and we shared the pours between the two of us. Even the flight pours were large enough to share between two people. The bubbles and the reds were all good, the zinfandel they had was a standout. We shared the smoky eggplant crostini was very good. We also got entrees of blackened salmon with the brussel sprouts and a sausage pizza.

Bottom line, all the food was wonderfully cooked. They have a wood fired oven they cook all this in, which gives a fun ambiance.

The service was great, special shout out to my boy Eddie who is always delivering food with a smile. Definitely lights the place up.

Not great. We ordered the Pesto Burrata Pasta, Brussels Sprouts, and a Margarita Pizza with Meatballs. Pesto pasta was clearly sitting there for awhile and the sauce had congealed and broke. The Brussels Sprouts were fine. The pizza they make is very obviously frozen pizza dough with toppings, obviously not fresh. If I wanted Digiorno, I could go to a grocery store and spend $12 less. Its not very good. The service was subpar. The server clearly knew she was automatically getting 20% and spent most of her time next to the bar chatting with bartenders and on her phone. I had to specifically ask for silverware and plates for our food. When you spend almost $200 on a bottle of wine and 3 plates of food, the expectation is...

Etabli is a great addition to the neighborhood - wonderful ambience and vibes, friendly and knowledgable staff, and really excellent food and wine! We ordered a little bit of everything off the menu: the trio of crostini (the beet spread was our favorite!); some roasted vegetables, perfectly seasoned with lemon zest and parmesan cheese; the sous vide & seared short ribs; and a delicious wood-fired pizza. I wish we had saved room for dessert, but opted instead to top off our evening with a few extra glasses of wine.
