My boyfriend and I came to Washington DC from NYC for a small getaway. While looking for a local place to eat for dinner, I came across Annie’s while searching online. When we arrived, we were seated inside immediately; given the fact that the place was pretty packed was already the first thing we were impressed with! (Also want to mention the outdoor dining option was available, we just preferred to eat inside due to incoming rain in the evening - the patio was gorgeous though!)
We started out with a Margarita, and the 17th Street Sunrise cocktails (not pictured, but I can promise they were made with a lot of love :) ) & then we placed our orders: Mac & Cheese Bites to start - and for our main courses: I ordered the Center Cut Pork Chop w/ a Baked Potato, and my boyfriend ordered the Southern Fried Chicken w/ French Fries - Annie’s also offers a “Vegetable of The Day” which was broccoli when we dined there.
All of the food we received that evening took a bit of time to reach our table…but I can promise it was well worth it. Annie’s is the definition of “Fresh to order” - everything that came to our table was steaming hot. So here we go!!!!
The Mac and Cheese bites were not the traditional breaded, ball-shaped & fried - this was a baked-style Mac & Cheese dish. It was AMAZING!! Cheese was oozy & melted - the crispy ends & corners were just chefs kiss incredible. Then, our entree’s came….LET ME TELL YOU!!!!
The Pork Chop I had was….it was just….it was perfect. I felt as if I was eating a steak. Seasoned & seared perfectly yet still tasty & juicy. The potato was steaming, the broccoli was fresh and tender w/ a bit of a bite (which is perfect for me & my boyfriend) and we made it a mission to not bring anything home….although we wish we did LOL. My boyfriend really enjoyed the Southern Fried Chicken, I tried a bit of his meal (he does not eat pork, therefore he did not try my food). The chicken was seasoned and it was fried really well; the crust was not overwhelming, but it was still crispy and juicy. Also….steak fries. Enough said. PS….the waiter w/ the glasses and mustache, you were fantastic!!!! I’m so sorry we did not get your name, but you worked the back section facing the front of the restaurant. We appreciated your little jokes & service very much :) :) I cannot say enough good things about the food we ate this night. We are still raving about it as I’m writing this review. We definitely plan on making this our dinner spot any time we are in DC. As a previous culinary school student, I was super happy to dine in this amazing establishment. Kudos to Annie’s Paramount!!!! We thank you so much for a great dining...

Read moreWent there with a group of five walked by several tables that could have fit us just to be taken upstairs to a secluded corner. ask the hostess if we could be seated downstairs she said it would be another 30 minute wait so we stayed.
The waiter making a joke about us being stuck with him was clearly foreshadowing. He took our drink orders, brought those out, took our food order, including one appetizer and then left.
Within minutes, another group arrived to a larger table across from us, which was double the size if not more people. We had to waive the waiter down for refills and for part of our drink order, and we noticed when the one appetizer did come out it was after the table with more people had all received their appetizers. We patiently continue to drink our beverages and the appetizer was finished. The food still never came out, and the waiter was even harder to find.
We then noticed that more attention was paid to the larger group, including how quickly their food came out. No one came to check on us. No one gave us an update on our food. Nothing about what we ordered was complicated. By this point, all of our beverages were empty. The appetizers were finished 20 minutes prior, and the third lap to the table across from us bringing them more food finally got us an update about our food from the waiter.
By this time it was an hour since we first came into the restaurant and we were done. A member of our party went to the bar downstairs and found the manager, told him what happened and was just told not to worry about it because as soon as the manager finished making cocktails, he would find out where our food was.
This was absolutely unacceptable. We left Ca$h on the bar for our beverages and the one appetizer and then left.
If this is the type of service the community should expect after 75 years in business maybe it is...
