The food is very good here, but these guys are seriously slow. If you are ordering via uber eats, forget about it if you are hungry or on a schedule. An hour and a half is super common, and it's not the drivers. Preparation today took an hour -- about 40 minutes in, when it looked like the driver was showing up, the app switched back to "preparing food again." Like they probably forgot something. It took another 15 minutes to sort this out. An hour and 20 minutes later had food I ordered for my wife's birthday.
We've ordered a bunch of times from these guys and if it's in the morning, it always takes supppppeeeer long on their side. When you go in, they have things ready within 10 minutes. So I think the issue is they really neglect the delivery app orders.
So, with that being said, I'd recommend going here to eat in, but I can't recommend it for Uber Eats. And again, this is from a regular customer who ends up there at least once a month as my Venezuelan wife loves this place.
Furthermore, I called the night before to ask if they could do a giant arepa to serve as a Venezuelan birthday cake for my wife who's a super regular customer. It would have just been like a regular one twice or three times the size, and I asked way in advance. They told me rather grumpily that it was impossible. That's fine if it's really impossible, but come on guys, use twice as much dough and cheese and charge me double, triple, whatever -- paying extra wasn't the issue. This isn't a McDonalds... but whatever. Maybe it really is impossible to make a...
Read moreVery clean, tasty food but EXTREMELY RUDE staff. I went yesterday with my mom on her first visit to DC and to this restaurant. We were craving some Latino food and saw this Venezuelan place had great reviews and by the pictures food looks also good so decided to give them a try. At first I thought place was closed since I didn’t see no one inside but then I pushed the door and it was open. When we went to the counter to order no was at front the first 1-2 min and then this super rude guy came and without even saying nothing he just started to touch the register screen without saying I will be with you shortly or welcome, it was so awkward been on front of him, me and my mom are just standing on from waiting for him to say welcome or how can we help you. After 2-3 min waiting finically this guys decided to speak saying ok… and I was like OK??? So I didn’t reply back because it was very rude to welcome someone to a restaurant saying OK. Since I didn’t reply black he then said are you ready which I replied when been ready a while ago. This was a very unpleasant visit and probably won’t be visiting anything soon this place or recommend to anyone since the way this guy treated his customers wasn’t the best, even when we left none of the staff said thanks for visiting us or come back soon OR NOTHING, literally they were just talking with each other like we were not there, terrible customer service, won’t...

Going to ArepaZone is always a treat. It’s a beautiful composition of flavor and tradition that instantly takes me back to my childhood in Venezuela.
I started with an order of Tequeños — a popular Venezuelan appetizer made of fried dough filled with gooey white cheese. Crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside — they’re the perfect start to any Venezuelan meal.
Then I had the Pabellón Bowl, a modern take on Venezuela’s national dish, Pabellón Criollo. It came with white rice, caraotas negras (black beans, known as “caraotas” in Venezuela), carne mechada (shredded beef), and tajadas (sweet fried plantains). Every bite was full of authentic sabor (flavor), just like I remember from home. I washed it all down with an ice-cold Malta Polar, a sweet, non-alcoholic malt beverage that’s a nostalgic favorite for many Venezuelans.
For dessert, I had a golfiado, a soft, sweet roll filled with papelón (raw cane sugar) and topped with cheese — a uniquely Venezuelan treat. One bite and I was transported to that famous roadside stop just outside Caracas, the one our family always visited on our way to Maracay, the city where I grew up.
ArepaZone isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a journey through taste and memory. Whether you’re Venezuelan or just curious about our flavors, this place brings Venezuela to your table, one delicious...
