Stopped in for a quick drink on my way out of the city. Won't be coming back under any circumstances. The place is gross. The bar hadn't been wiped down and there were 2 bugs crawling near the beer taps the entire time I was there. Then I encountered the rudest bartender I've ever met. He was having issues with a coworker and apparently decided to take his frustrations out on his bar guests. The entire time, he made very patronizing and passive aggressive comments toward me. Apparently he was upset he had to ask people for their IDs for some reason. I would have laughed it off, but he was so sour it really made me feel unwelcome. I told him I liked the beer and asked if he had a specific vodka. He said "you mean the one that's right in front of you?". I have terrible eyesight, so I couldn't read the labels from where I was sitting. My attempts to build any rapport with this man apparently failed because I sat with an empty glass for around 5 mins after both drinks. It was Monday afternoon, so it wasn't busy... At all. I went to the bathroom and came back to sit with my empty glass for another few minutes. Eventually, I got bored and asked a bar back to check out as the bartender was busy talking with the DJ. I get that everyone has bad days, but it really seemed like this guy was trying to make sure everyone there was having one as bad as his. I still tipped him, but wow. I have never encountered someone like...
Read moreMy fiancé and I visit the DC area often and this was our first time at the Green Lantern. It can seem confusing to find, especially for an Uber Driver but is tucked away in a very well lit and clean alley. This is a pretty neat place! You basically get two bars in one. As soon as you go in downstairs, there is a square bar that fills most of the room. Something that caught me off guard was how nice the bar top is. If I'm mistaken it was granite and they even have coasters! Very nice! I always enjoy a place that plays music videos to add to the scenery. The second floor features a tradition wall bar as well as a modest sized dance floor with a decent sound system. They do have a coat check in the back of the second floor so don't worry about bringing your coat. The crowd was very mixed but is definitely not the super young gay's club. They seemed to have a mixture of all ages and everyone seemed very comfortable. The drinks were a little higher priced than I was expecting but didn't disappoint. Great location downtown and I'm sure we...
Read moreTonight there was an incident with one of the bartenders on the second floor ( black guy on the right side). I ordered a drink and I gave him my card. He served me the drink but I did not receive my credit card back and I asked him, he told me that he had not received my credit card. I insisted because I had given him my credit card and he later found it on the floor and returned it to me. when he returned my credit card he told me he was on the floor, I told him at least one sorry would be better and that triggered him to start insulting me to such a degree that he grabbed my full drink and threw it away in the bar. I felt completely humiliated, this is not a place that stands up to these things, but I want to complain because these things should not happen in a place where we are a minority and we are here to support each other. I don't know if I will return to this place but the owners should take these reviews seriously so as not to allow something like this to...
