Ben & Jerry’s — Restaurant in Washington

Giving 2 stars generously because we love B&J but the service? Absolutely terrible. The young man who ended up taking our order was great, but the two older women (there was another girl but she looked young/younger) were so rude. She rolled her eyes at us when just one of our party of 4 said she wasn’t ready and then instead of asking the other 3 of us, she proceeded to walk around to the other counter and get the next couple in line. Then stood there with her arms crossed with a very rude look on her face because the lady in the couple was trying to think of the name of the ice cream she wanted. When the guy who took our order pulled a cone from the cone case on the side, the girl said “don’t touch those, I just filled them up. I don’t care if it’s for a customer” and rolled her eyes again. The other lady was taking care of another family and they asked for the non dairy version of the flavor they wanted and she slammed the case close and said “well you need to go down there for that” and walked away upset they didn’t see the very faint “non dairy” sign. If you are not happy doing customer service, this probably isn’t the job for you. This was Sunday, Father’s Day, 6/15/2025...

My family and I were visiting DC for the first time and staying at the Wharf Marina. Our initial experience with this Ben & Jerry’s was phenomenal! David was welcoming and incredibly sweet. My daughters and I couldn’t wait to go back because of David’s exceptional service. However, when we returned 2 days later, our experience was awful. This time around we were helped by a different server and we couldn’t believe her attitude towards us. It was absolutely offensive! I gave her our order and before she could start scooping, I informed her that my daughters and I all had peanut allergies. She yelled out, “ALL OF YOU?!” and proceeded to roll her eyes at us. Then she complained that she needed to wash the scoops for every single ice cream that we ordered. I was shocked and so disgusted by her negative behavior. I will NEVER spend a dime here ever again! After a long day I decided to treat my kids to ice cream cones. Well, as we finished eating I went inside throw away our trash. My kids were outside playing with the balloon arch when one of the employees rudely asked me to tell my kids to stop. He had a look of disgust on his face as if my 4 and 6 year old boys were defacing the freaking building! They're balloons! What do you expect from kids when you place a bunch of balloons in front of them! I was already tired from my day and would have normally cursed his scooping creamery @$$ out but I let it go so others could continue to enjoy their ice cream experience.
