Where do I Begin? First off, I'm from NYC, and There you can get Every Kind & Culture of food Under the sun..but I Must say, the quality is honestly extremely diluted and "hit-or-miss" due to both the high demand and, admittedly, easily contented demographic that focus's much more on convenience/speed than anything else. When I recently had dinner with my boss and his wife here at the M St location, who btw are By Far Much more Cultured and Traveled than I, having experienced cuisine from countless states and countries all over the world of almost equal caliber of diversity in culture, Their impression Alone of the food here left them speechless during dinner and extremely impressed by the end. Now for My impression; I have Yet to have eaten such Amazing, Quality-Crafted Food under One roof in my life so far, not to mention that I don't believe I've Ever looked at a menu and was actually Captivated by Every Single Item on it! The Starters, the Entrees, the Pizzas, the Sides, the Salads, even the Drinks! The description of absolutely Everything On there looked Intriguingly Delicious! That being said we actually took quite a while to make our decisions, ultimately ending up deciding to split 4 different plates to share amongst ourselves; fresh, crispy Calamari for a starter/appetizer, a generously-sized Viva Italia personal pizza, Shrimp & Grits for an entree, and their apple, arugula, raisin, and finely sliced & tender red onion Couscous as a side. We We're Blown AWAY!! Literally going from having a lively conversation to just quietly, Blissfully, and in pleasant surprise Thoroughly enjoying Every! Single! Bite! The Peachy keen and Limoncello cocktails were later the cherry on top of the whole dining experience, but also not to forget the exceptional and lovely service we received from our server. Today, the following day, before my 5hr trip back to NY I HAD to order another Shrimp & Grits to go (which btw was personally my first time having anything like it) to share the memorably, absolutely delectable taste of it with my partner waiting for me at home. My/our Highest Compliments to the Chefs in the back-of-house, whom I can literally Taste the exceptional Skill and Art behind each bite I experienced there; the Wait-staff who were all Very accommodating every step from the front door, to our seats, to the end of our service, and to the General Mgr who was also Very polite and humbled at hearing how much we enjoyed our experience and was intent on sharing the praise with his team, as he also agreed is well-deserved. Thank you again for a Lovely and Surprisingly memorable dining experience, and I truly hope to return there asap, with lucky...
Read moreFriends and I for the restaurant week brunch menu so the price wasn’t too bad, I would not return otherwise because I believe the food on the menu is way overpriced. Don’t get the mocktails, way too expensive for a tiny glass of unsweetened tea. The sunshine bowl, and bagel with salmon were good, the cheddar biscuits were acceptable, but the wings were a highlight in the starter menu and would get them again. I would avoid the fried chicken sandwich, just overpriced and under seasoned. The hangover burger isn’t any better than what you could get at a Red Robin for cheaper. However, the shrimp and grits were delicious and I would get those again. The apple cake was delicious, the chocolate cake was a bit too rich but not bad, the pumpkin cheesecake however is an absolute miss as the texture and taste were all wrong. Service was good and the restaurant overall was pretty nice although it is weird that they don’t have a bathroom and instead you have to go out into the adjacent hotel to use their bathrooms on the floor above.
The biggest issue I have with this restaurant is a new 5% surcharge the restaurant has added because of DC’s Initiative 82 which will raise the wage of tipped staff to match the wage of non tipped staff in 2027. Tipping in general is already a way for restaurant owners to pass the cost of running a business onto customers and increase profit. And now they’re charging customers even more because the staff deserve a livable wage. I highly doubt that extra 5% is going to the employees who still need tips to survive. The food is already extremely overpriced and if your business cannot operate successfully without paying staff a livable wage then that business...

We ordered takeout for dinner, but definitely plan to go back to dine in soon.
We easily placed our takeout order via phone about 30 mins before they closed.
I ordered the gumbo with chicken, Andouille sausage and shrimp and it was delicious. It came with rice and had a fairly authentic flavor. Of course there’s nothing like true Louisiana gumbo, but I will say that it hit the spot.
Frankly, there were several items on the Chef Geoff West End menu that I would like to try, which means I have to go back.
I also ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts, which were made with Parmesan cheese, grilled lemon and Cesar dressing. They were good. Nice flavor!
Lastly, for a treat, I ordered the pear croustade with cinnamon ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert. The croustade crust was flaky and filled with pear. If it the dessert was that good as a take out order, I suspect it would be even better for dine-in.
My colleague orders the blackened salmon entree with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It looked and smelled delicious! He said he had ordered it a few days ago and it was so good he ordered it again.
The ambience at Chef Geoff’s is nice and welcoming. The bar and dining room are a good size with plenty of seating. It’s a great place to meet up with friends or grab a bite if you’re staying at one of the many nearby hotels.
Chef Geoff’s West End is conveniently located inside the Washington Hilton and across from the Marriott Georgetown and around the corner from the Ritz Carlton.
I look forward to my next meal at Chef...
