I stayed at this hotel with my family in January 2025. Problems started with the valet as soon as we arrived. Front desk told us that the valet was going to help us unload the luggages and take them to our room. Then the valet came with the cart. We asked him if there was a way to tip him after at the front desk. He said "Nevermind. Bring the cart back when you are done." He left us like that in cold weather at night time. We unloaded everything and pushed the cart upstairs. It was just the beginning though... There were 3 elevators and 1 of them wasn't working. That is understandable, elevators can break down. However, after we carried our stuff upstairs, I couldn't bring the cart back. The "down" call buttons of both elevators on my floor weren't working. So, the only way was to press the "up" call buttons. And only 1 of the 2 working elevator cars were coming and unsurprisingly it was going up with other guests inside. After waiting around 10 minutes, I decided to walk through the fire exit stairs to the lobby to kindly tell the front desk that I was unable to bring the cart back and ask for help. At the time, there was another customer. I waited for my turn. After the personnel at the front desk, Ms. L. F. (Assistant General Manager), was done with the other guest, I started telling her about the problem. She relentlessly interrupted my talk as I was trying to explain the issue. Ms. F started to lecture me about how to use an elevator where apparently the problem was with the malfunctioning elevator call buttons, not my "ignorance"! She even involved the previous guest into our conversation as that guest was waiting for the elevator to come. After a couple minutes, I gave up thinking that it was completely futile to even try to talk to her, asked her the restrooms and walked away talking to myself due to unpleasant conversation where my talk was interrupted continuously by her. Then I heard her hollering behind my back saying something like "if you talk as you walk, I can't hear you". What a terrible disrespectful attitude. I stopped, went back to her and said "I was talking to myself, I was not talking to you." Then, I went to the restroom at the lobby. All the toilets were backed up, I had to flush multiple times and clean before I use one. Then the soap dispensers at the restroom. All of them were empty. I came back to the front desk to let them know about the soap dispensers. I wanted to get some water as I was waiting for my turn as the front desk was busy with other guests. The glass water dispenser of the courtesy water was filled with sliced oranges obviously from the morning and there was no water coming but gunk. I thought maybe I could get some coffee then, but there was no coffee on the desk, only coffee creamer. So, I approached to Ms. F again and wanted to share more unpleasant experiences on top of my disappointment for receiving a very negative attitude from her during our first conversation while all I was expecting was a solution. Bringing the cart back was not actually my problem when their elevators were not working, but I chose to be a responsible guest and kind but Ms. F was so out of line. She continued to interrupt me, started dismissing me and talking with other guests who come and go. She even started to get busy with her cell phone after one guest came and asked something from her in the middle of my conversation with her. And I had to warn her about that! Also, she chose to dismissively look away most of the time while I was talking to her. I finally had to ask her name, she brought me her business card and accused me of being rude to her just because she was a personnel behind the desk. I said my intention was never that and I respect the job she did but her way of communication was unfit with service sector. I am sure if the hotel management pulls up the footage from the security cameras they will see that. That was a very unpleasant experience. I'm giving this hotel 1-star only because of her. Other than that, rooms are very nice and spacious, the...
Read moreGave it a second chance-still horrible. I stayed their on 08-03-18-I am Hyatt member also..I booked the stay over a month in advance for a single room with 2 double beds on my Hyatt card for 2 nights. I got to the hotel parked my vehicle outside and went in to check in and was stopped by the Valet service person, he stated that he needs my key. I told i would be right out as i have things in the car, he insisted that he has to move the vehicle and cant leave the car unattended. I gave the key fob to my brand new car (one yr old-my baby). Then i was allowed to go in and get checked in. At the front desk i was met with a female with with nothing but sarcastic/patronizing attitude. She said the the room is ready and handed the keys, I told her i would like to check the room out to see if it is what i had booked. Right then is when she tells me well they gave my room away to somebody else and they have no other rooms available except for this one room with a single bed for 3 people. I asked how could this be, this was booked over a month ago, they had plenty of time to email me if they didn't have or couldn't provide for the exact room i was looking for. She had no answer but a smug look on her face, stating im sorry but that's all we have, take it or leave it look. I called the main number to Hyatt reservations, they said that they would look into it and gave me case number#!82344. I asked that girl (Katie) if their was a manager i could speak to, she said let me check, goes away from the front desk for a few minutes and returns and says that both the general manager and the asst. manager went on vacation today. Now, let me ask you-would she know ahead of time that there is no supervision and the mangers left for vacation ahead of time. why did she act like she was going to tell the manager and then come back only to say that they are not there. My wife was disgusted and said don't get mad just get the room as we had no other choice. once we checked in, which only took maybe 10 to 15 minute time frame, i went outside to get the rest of my things out of the car, so i was looking for the valet person, he was busy with somebody else trying to get a tip. He walked over after and handed the key fob to me. I walked over to my car and their is this scratch and dents to my passenger side doors and 1/4 panel. Valet person denied any wrong doings and said that he doesn't know how it happened. I tried to ask the front desk ladies but they were no help. I called the police and made a report. I had to report it to insurance and file a claim for nonsense stuff that happened while my vehicle was in their possession. The hotel claims that the valet is a third party company that they hire and they are not part of Hyatt. so you are not only paying parking fees to this company but you are also paying to Hyatt as the middle man. Of course everyone is denying claims because no one wants to take responsibility. As for the room, it looked nice but later when i went to use the shower, Feces drop on wall. I had to clean it before use. The next day Saturday the 4th of August, I was contacted by another front desk person (African American Female) who was very nice, she said sorry about yesterday but i will move you into another room with double beds. which i was happy about, but only later to be disappointed because when i tried to sleep, their was so much noise from sirens and vehicles and people talking, i could not get any sleep. At this point i just wanted to get out of there. Anyway, even though the second nite i received the room that i wanted, i am still out deductible 500 dollars. The hotel staff was ignorant, sarcastic very patronizing and not accommodating at all.. Before I forget, I also want to mention about the free complementary breakfast that they offer-please take a look at the pictures i have attached. I would not feed this to my worst enemy. Horrible place. Stay at your own risk-all they want is your money, they do not care about the customers....
Read moreI usually do not write reviews, but this one, I could not, not write it. I had the Worst hotel experience in DC, particularly the hotel receptionist, impolite, rude and completely inappropriate. My husband and I booked a room at this hotel on our anniversary (Nov 26 to 27 2021) and requested a room with a view. We called in advance several times to get confirmation that we indeed were assigned a room with a view. It was confirmed. We arrived at 1pm at this hotel. First, the valet did not even bother come towards us to park our car, we had to ask while he was rushing to park the car of other white guests (that was not so bad, we are used to this type of behavior by now)… Then, at the reception, we were told we are too early and our room is not ready. (Which was also understandable given check in time was 3pm). I then asked the receptionist to confirm that we do have a room with a view, which she did (3rd confirmation from the hotel). So we went to have lunch at a nearby restaurant and came back around 3.15pm to check-in and then surprise !!!! As soon as she saw us, the lady at the reception (African American young girl, unbelievably rude, did not catch her name unfortunately) with a very defensive attitude told us that the room that is ready now is a room on the 2nd floor. I asked what happened between 1pm and now when we were confirmed our room on a high floor would be ready by 3pm?? Incapable of answering, she went on and on to convince us that we have to take that room when clearly she forgot about us waiting and mistakenly attributed our room to someone else. Unapologetic and refusing to call her manager or supervisor, we said we are not checking in into a room we did not book. One of her colleagues asked her to call the manager “John” but she refused. She then faked a “I do not feel safe” attitude and told us she was going to call the police if we do not leave the premises. I said I am not leaving unless I talk to a Manager. And that she should be my guest and call the police. We never ever got to see a Manager. The police eventually came and apologized to us and we decided to leave and book another hotel nearby ( The Mariott) where we are having a delightful experience. Thankfully, we also had a great time on our dinner cruise and that helped forget this disgusting chapter. All her colleagues were there clearly seeing her behavior as they seemed surprised but no one said a word. Even the police man who was in the hall was apologetic to us seeing the way we were treated, on our anniversary day ! You have to experience this to believe it. You think that of all places, you won’t find such a cavalier attitude and uneducated behavior in such a hotel in Georgetown ? I have never witnessed such a low behavior of my dozen years of travelling around the world, never. My advice : never book this hotel if you are celebrating a special moment, they will...
