Bubble Planet: An Immersive Experience is located @ Rhode Island Avenue Center in the NE section of Washington, DC in an multiplex where you can also find Kraken Skates & Courts, Alamo Cinema Drafthouse, metrobar, the top bar and outdoor bar in Washington, DC voted #1 by the Washington City Paper. There’s also the Bryant Street Market Food Hall filled with a variety of food options ranging from Asian dumplings to tacos.
Bubble Planet is cute, whimsical, colorful and fun. From the moment you walk in, the vibes are set. There is a photo opp right as you enter, where you can take a photo for purchase upon exit, after selecting from your favorite Bubble Planet background.
There’s a lot of quotes and facts on the walls about bubbles. They’re interesting and on some case thought provoking.
Bubble Planet is meant to immerse you in bubbles from various aspects and to inspire everyone’s inner child to come out and play. There are lots of opportunities to enjoy bubble in their various forms.
There’s an interactive balloon-filled room with colorful lights and large latex filled balloons. If you have a latex allergy, you’ll want to skip this room. There is good signage to prevent any issues. This room was fun to explore. The balloons were huge and pretty high up. I’m 5’5” and the balloons were almost eye level at times. There’s a big palm tree in the center of the room that makes you feel like you’re walking in a pool piled high with bouncing balloons.
There are some cool visuals all around Bubble Planet from the infinity room filled with colorful string lights and mirrors, which is similar to the globally popular, infinity Mirrors room by famed, Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. You have to look at the floor to prevent getting tangled in the lights. The staff member is there to help guide you and also offered to take photos, which was nice of him.
With it being the day open to the public, all of the staff were friendly and welcoming and enthusiastic encouraging interaction and helping to explain how to optimize various bubble-inspired experiences.
There was also a photo op room with several bubble-themed vignettes set up that were also interactive. I wish I could have gotten the giant bubble to work. There’s an immersive activity, where you can encase yourself in a giant bubble! I tried a few times, but didn’t get it to work. It’s tricky, but a cute idea.
Another cool part of the Bubble Planet was a mini version of the famous Sphere in Las Vegas. The sphere feature projected visuals on the outside and inside. You could walk in and relax on one of the several large beanbags available to allow you to experience the visuals from above.
One of the next parts of the experience was a room where you were showered in bubbles. I will say I was confused when I entered this room it wasn’t clear what the experience would entail. I figured something wet based on the flooring. After a few minutes, the room was filling with bubbles being sprayed from above. This was a nice concept, but not sure the execution worked.
The next room was one of my favorites, the Virtual Reality room. It was filled with hanging acrylic, bubble chairs with comfy pillows dangling like water drops throughout the room. For an addl $5, you can purchase the Bubble Planet: virtual reality experience. It felt like I was floating on a cloud as soon as I sat in the char and put on the VR headset! A colorful and whimsical world unfolded right before my eyes! It was about 8-10 mins of immersion, where you are swaying and sailing through different bubble-themed scenes. I enjoyed it so much that I now want a hanging bubble chair and VR headset at home!
Bubble Planet also has a huge ball pit room, a store filled with goodies. There’s even a room to color and scan your page to appear on the wall and lots more.

Read moreI went to Bubble Planet today and was very disappointed. There was a good amount of people there, but it wasn't so crowded that we couldn't enjoy ourselves. My biggest complaint was that it was 90° outside and they did not have on the AC, so it felt almost as hot in the exhibit. The first room was supposed to have an interactive floor, but it wasn't. The kids really enjoyed the room with balloons and the ball pit, but they both were hot and sweaty. The room that was like being inside a bubble had a cool echo and there were bean bag chairs to sit on, but none of us did because it smelled like funky armpits inside (eventhough no one was in there) so we assumed the odor was coming from the bean bag chairs. The room we were most excited to see was the room with the real bubbles floating around, but it was the biggest let down. 3 bubble machines near the ceiling periodically put out about 10 small bubbles each and most were popped by the ceiling lights before they got down to the people. My 18 month old sadly asked, "Where bubbles?" when she only saw 1 single bubble float past her. There was an attendant only letting a few people go into the "light maze" at a time and gave a speech about staying on the path before we entered. It was literally 1 turn then we were out. Maybe a 15 second walk. The bathroom at the end was FILTHY! I blame the workers and patrons. A used diaper was sitting on top of the changing table. The floor was wet for some reason and had wads of hair and mud all over it. The toilets were probably not cleaned in a week. If I didn't have 2 toddlers with me, I wouldn't have gone past 2 feet. Thank God I had gloves, clorox wipes and toilet seat covers in my baby bag. My nephew said the men's room was worse and refused to use it. By looking at other reviews, its clear that several things were broken or unavailable on the day I took my family which is pretty pathetic, considering it was a Saturday and this exhibit is available to attend for several more months. Hopefully, they fix things soon. Overall, this was not worth the ticket cost and did not look how it looked online in person. The balloon room and ball pit made it not a complete waste since the kids really enjoyed that and there was no time limit on how long you could play in...
Read moreAmazing experience! I only took 1 star off because of these things that can be fixed:
Need more staff at the "selfie room" area. It was very busy when we got there. It's not a huge area and people are lining up for 5 different booths, (some are cutting in line, some kids are walking unsupervised) and there's only 1 staff controlling the whole area. 2 of the game stations across the sketch and post were not working. 1 was totally not working (unplugged) and the "bubble girl" isn't working properly. The walk through the infinity room was a little disappointing. We were let in as part of a large group and felt rushed to exit the short walk. It would've been better to let each family/group walk through it with a time limit. More time to enjoy the experience and be able to take photos and videos for keepsake. One photo on the website is a guy holding a light bulb in the infinity room, DON'T do that LOL Giant bubble was super nice but we had to wait for a little bit of time because nobody's controlling the flow of traffic and number of people. We exited immediately because it got really crowded and toasty in the bubble) My kids had fun at the VR station but some VR headsets weren't working, some seats don't have one and some has sweaty ones. And nobody's assisting people on where to sit or what to do. The sketch and post is fun but there was nobody to control the use of the machine or supervise the area. Kids were there just smashing and pressing the red button repetitively.
HIGHLIGHT: It's super fun for the kids, especially the Bubble pit. Also, out of all the staff in the building, there was only 1 that didn't give me the "don't want to deal with anything/let's get this over with" attitude. I forgot to ask for her name, but she was working at the Bubble pit 07/16/2025 around 2:30pm. She talked to everyone with a smile on her face, was addressing the kids who were climbing up the inflatables with such grace and control. I even asked her "How many times do you have to repeat that in a day?" (the rules) she chuckled and said "at least 100 times", she's great! Free parking validation
I was planning on leaving a 3 star review but posted 4 because the...
