I was born in Los Angeles of Mexican American descent. My mother would make the best home made Mexican food in town, she was from Nogales, Mexico. My wife and I are residents of Port Angeles and we said, let's give the Corner Restaurant a try. Boy, we hit the jack pot. My goodness, the food was absolutely delicious! It was like my Mom was in the kitchen making food for our large family. The true mark of a great Mexican restaurant is the rice and beans. They got the rice and beans right! And they have a salsa bar with a great variety of sauces to choose and fresh spiced carrots and warm tortilla chips. I smiled and got transported to my childhood when I tasted the food. We ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans, a wet burrito with lovely shredded beef and tacos al pastor. I can honestly say the best Mexican food in town. They are so generous with their food, it fed us for two days. Now that's a real bargain. And yes, they do take out or sit down in a very cozy environment. Bottom line, coming from an expert in Mexican cuisine, you must try the Corner Restaurant. Beautiful people, great prices but most importantly, fabulous food that will not disappoint the pallet. 5 Stars Yummy delicious!!!...
Read moreWe enjoyed our street tacos but the interior of the place was very run down and there were no scents or sounds of any cooking going on.
As for the specific ingredients, the onions they served were amazing but our jalapenos were way under roasted. We didn't eat much more than the tips off them. The chicken was oily but just fine and the tortillas were decent. The lime and green sauce gave them a nice fresh flavor and scent.
We live four hours south of here and this will likely be our only experience visiting Corner Restaurant. I'd imagine they're more set up for servicing the drive though rather than dine-in customers, so maybe stick with that.
We were there on a Saturday at lunch time so we'd think this was a typical service for them. I can imagine locals might possibly like it more than we did, but I haven't checked.
My wife and I would recommend giving them a shot for yourself. That way they might be able to afford a few upgrades and get closer to five stars. We liked the people we met and we hope they...

I hesitate to say I'm a fan of most Latin food, as that sounds pretentious. I will say that I truly enjoy GOOD food, regardless of nationality, and will go out of my way to frequent establishments that offer up such vittles..
My first clue was when the menu said "street tacos". No. Just... no. They are just tacos.
The overabundance of onion on my friend's chicken tacos was criminal. There was so much chopped onion she couldn't see the meat and was almost in danger of losing sight of the corn tortillas as well.
The al pastor tacos i had ordered lacked the chopped pineapple that traditionally accompanies it. The meat had lots of color, but very little of the flavor I had come to expect eating this dish for the last 15 years.
It appears that the offerings in this tiny place have been watered down, rendered almost dull and lifeless so as to be palatable by the...
