Echo Box Karaoke & Bar — Restaurant in Washington

My sister booked the VIP room for her birthday party. She got stuck in awful traffic because of road closures in the city so she called to let them know she was still on the way and the woman on the phone was extremely rude to her. She told her that we could not have any extra time in the room because there was another reservation after ours, which would be understandable except for the fact that my sister had booked the room for three hours, until 9:30, and the next group had been booked for 8:45, meaning our party was getting cut an hour short. When I arrived right at 6:30 when the booking was supposed to start, I tried to check in our group as my sister had asked me to do so that the rest of the guests could get into the room and get started. They told me we could not check in until my sister arrived because she made the booking, even though they really just needed a card to swipe for the deposit which I easily could have done myself and sorted out with my sister later.

When my sister finally arrived and got checked in around 6:45 (15 minutes after we were supposed to get into the room) they told us the room wasn’t ready yet and needed to be cleaned. So we weren’t able to get into the room until after 6:50, meaning we only had a little over an hour and a half for what was supposed to be a three hour reservation.

We ordered food and drinks in the room via the QR code. The chicken wings were good but they took at least 45 minutes to come out. The service was very weird. Staff would drop off food and drinks at the end of the table without a word, which would be somewhat understandable if they are coming in while someone is singing karaoke, but even when no one was singing, they would drop it off without saying what it was and a couple times even ran out of the room while someone was trying to ask what the item was. Additionally, for some reason, maybe because I placed my order first, my tab had two random “VIP” charges for $100 each which I had to go to the front to get taken off while everyone else was able to close their tabs on their phone.

The experience overall was extremely stressful for everyone in attendance, but especially for my sister on her birthday. She had previously had a good experience here which is why she chose to have her party here, but after this she will not be back, nor will I or any of her friends that came. I would advise everyone to think twice before booking...

This review has been a long time coming. My husband, family, and I have been here countless times since July 2024. We found it randomly when we couldn't get a time slot at Pinstripes nearby and just wanted some food. We took a chance at the karaoke rooms and since then, this is the only karaoke place we love to go to. Mind you, I personally travel from Frederick, MD and we always find it worth it. The rooms are always so clean and we love that you can start off by eating food in their dining room and can walk into a karaoke room if your time slot starts. You can also order more while you're in a room. I believe we've always gotten lucky with not needing a reservation for small parties if we come at 9-10:30pm ish, but I have witnessed others struggle to find a non-reserve room later in the night.

My then fiance, now husband love this karaoke bar so much we chose to celebrate our small courthouse wedding here with our loved ones in the larger, VIP room. Apparently my husband requested flowers for the room and I walked in to a bouquet of red roses which was such a nice touch by the staff. We not only had an absolutely wonderful time on our wedding night/celebration, but we've had an amazing time every time we've come. The food and drinks are always fantastic and it's kid friendly! We have taken our 3 year old niece here multiple times and she always has a blast. They give her toys every time and she loves them. Bring your own noise cancelling headphones if your child is sensitive to noise, though.

Thank you to the Echo Box staff for giving us such a consistent experience every time. I read some of the bad reviews, and it honestly sounds like user error lol. If you karaoke often, especially in the DMV, the Korean software and tablet is a regular thing. It was annoying to learn at first, but there are literally English letters on the tablet too and you learn quickly. There is also YouTube as an option to sing from and we use it to sing songs in French, Tagalog, Japanese, and English. What you can't find in their regular software, you'll find on YouTube.

Wonderful place from the entrance, to ordering and overall experience! It’s the perfect corner and yet private spot! Very modern and welcoming. The team here is incredibly friendly and attentive. They truly care about giving you a great experience. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. I took my time before I sat because I wanted to check out their menu and explore my options before deciding to eat there. I value this openness and flexibility. I then asked about the restaurant, their offers and their spaces. I was given a tour of their karaoke rooms where I noticed their setup. They had a setup up that offered a selection of Korean music, and then they had another setup that offered limitless options for music playing and singing for anyone that wanted to explore beyond the Korean playlist option. I thought this was a neat way of reflecting the diversity of DC.

In terms of drinks and food, I had the mango, peach, and passion fruit margarita. They were all so delicious. The margaritas were prepared in a way that the flavors of the fruit were well balanced with the tequila and none overpowered the other! I then tried their Cheese Wontons, they had the perfect crunch, and the glaze was to the taste! I had their Chicken Katsu, and this comes with rice and finely shredded cabbage. The Katsu sauce was a nice thick sauce, while also feeling light on your tummy. I enjoyed mixing this with my rice and cabbage. The chicken was breaded flash fried giving it the perfect crisp! Finally I had the Breasts, and I will emphasize and encourage people to get this in a heart beat. I opted for getting the mix of Soy and Spicy and even after having them, I continue to think of these and savor them.

Definitely stop by even if it’s just for pick up. The food is amazing and it will definitely be a great place to keep up with friends and family, or...
