Fish King and Jerk Chicken — Restaurant in Washington

I have only had breakfast and it is about 8 dollars which is high for egg in the hood. For Asians to make the food I am disappointed and the amount of food is not loaded. Now I did get their salmon cake which was delicious you just get one though. I am writing though because I saw several roaches by the food display case which is shocking. I let one go but then four or five others came out and started running by the light.

Edit: New owners brought Jamaican options which is decent not authentic but the 6 dollar price makes it worth your time. The guy that sits at the counter is rude and blast the TV. I do not like dealing with him because of his nasty attitude.

Edit: 4/24/25 The same man at the counter charged me more money because he said he saw a negative review online. What a way to prove you are exactly what a customer says. Now they engage in illegal practices. I am unclear on why they have that man on the counter. It is hard to make it in DC no need to bring negative attention to your restaurant. This place here is pretty hidden and I am happy that I stumbled upon this place that is hiding lots of goodness. They have pretty good portions when it comes to breakfast, there are so many good options such as the sandwiches. I started off with the ham egg and cheese, I also got the platter with Italian sausage, grits, home fries, pancakes, eggs and cheese with bacon 🥓 yes I got all this and it was delicious 😁.. I have to say though the prices are a little highthat is the only major thing because you can get platters of breakfast for almost 2 to 3 dollars less. Awesome soul-food place, only open for breakfast and lunch. There's no seating, so everything is take-out. They have tons of southern home-style sides that you can mix and match, like mac and cheese, collard greens, and mashed potatoes. This is the restaurant that turned me on to grits. The breakfast specials are a fantastic value -- 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and grits for $5.99 was my go-to. The fried fish platters are also a great deal, though you might have to pick some small bones out of your filets. Service is fast, the people who own it are friendly but quick and to the point.
