One of my all time favorite coffee shops in DC! I first started going to Grace Street Coffee when they were still located on their namesake, Grace Street, in 2017. They've moved locations since then to a gorgeous spot right next to the Georgetown waterfront, but the quality of their coffee and friendliness, attentiveness of their service has remained the same. Their coffee menu is quite extensive and every single item is outstanding; as one of DC's most prolific local coffee roasters, it's so clear that they deeply care about the beans and unique, subtle flavor profiles of each roast. Their coffee is rich, flavorful, and smooth, and I am always so genuinely impressed by every drink I get here.

Beyond the coffee, though, they also have a phenomenal selection of teas. I love their matcha (probably one of the best in DC), and their loose leaf tea is fantastic. One of my coffee shop pet peeves is when a barista just hands you a cup of hot water with a tea bag in it, but Grace Street truly appreciates the tea; they will steep the loose leaf tea for you for the right amount of time and with the right temperature of water, then hand you the final, completed beverage. It's a small thing, but the extra time to brew the tea properly really elevates the experience and shows how much Grace Street cares about making sure everything -- coffee or not -- is executed perfectly.

They also serve a variety of food, including pastries from Pluma Bakery and some hearty breakfast burritos / bowls from Monstera. I've sampled a variety of pastries, including their monkey bread for a sweet treat and potato danish for a more savory bite, and they've all been great.

The coffee shop tends to be quite crowded so it's hard to find seating, but if you manage to snag a table and/or spot on their staircase benches, it's such a lovely vibe. If not, there are a few picnic tables outside or you can take your coffee for a walk along...

my second time back + i love the choice + use of ceremonial matcha + minor figures oat milk: quality options

i appreciate that they do pour overs + adore the set up of seating + simple interior choice

i do not appreciate the lack of intention for it being a cafe food place where the staff does not wear head coverings, not sure about kitchen

i am bothered by the stand out lack of upkeep of the space as far as cleanliness goes: the walls have multiple visible soiled spots + what seems to be lingered neglected lack of cleanliness or clean intention

from the area of the dish bins to the rest rooms + the restroom floors seems lack of cleanliness even behind the restrooms doors as if the floors don’t really get mopped which does not make me want to eat here

while the restrooms aren’t physically dirty it’s appearance clearly has a neglected feel up upkeep + inconsistency + it’s very distasteful

this place feels like a new apartment of a almost adult teenager that hasn’t come of age to recognize true responsibility + accountability i.e professionalism which speaks to the lack of service of the staff

i hope it gets better with management simple because this place...

Tried their vanilla latte today at the new Georgetown location. The syrup is supposedly house-made but tasted very chemically and I was missing the vanilla, tasted more like sugar syrup with a hint of vanilla essence. Was hoping house-made syrup meant they actually created something special with a vanilla bean or something. Anyhoo... was hoping to go back since the location is amazing (stunning views) but decided against it. It's not artisan coffee like Blue Bottle. Also, asked the barista about the coffee they used for the latte and he said it's mild coffee which explains the lack of any real coffee flavor. At the end of day it was mild coffee with sugar syrup and vanilla essence but nice and foamy. The service was amazing. The lady at the register and barista were both friendly and seemed to be enjoying their work.

Decent spot If you're in the area but wouldn't go thru the hassle of parking, as I would for Baked n Wired or...

***** UPDATE ****** Grace Street added dark green plants. The interior is much softer and less industrial. Well done. Adding a 5th star for the atmosphere. + Michelin star of coffee. Price high, but quality is higher. Friendly staff. Prompt service. - interior not quite finished. Need a few more dark green plants. Perhaps to the left of the bar, a fiddle leaf fig tree would complement the beige interior.
