Learn moreMy boyfriend and I are 21 years old and we are from Baltimore. I received the worst service dining in the restaurant on Sunday night. When we sat down the waitress brought us out drinks and took our food order and that was the last time she was attentive to us. Our waitress waited on the table next to us and gave them fabulous service while ignoring us. I had to ask for our waitress 3 times for complementary olives that they place on the tables in the beginning before the entree is brought out. I finally received them when the order came out. In the beginning when we first sat down Our waitress only brought us out one drink for each of us (my boyfriend and I) which was water and when we asked the waitress for a wine menu she said " we don't have a menu for wines here we only have specialty pumpkin beers" (that menu for specialty beers was already on the table) We saw our waitress give the table next to us a menu for wines 20 minutes into our meal. After the couple left (we left shortly after) my boyfriend grabbed the booklet that was left on the table and it was indeed a wine booklet. Our waitress never came back to ask how was the food, or to ask us if we want refills(we only had one glass of water from the beginning and that was all), and our waitress lied about having a wine menu. At the end my boyfriend had to say excuse me four times to the waitress as she was walking by before she would finally acknowledge him and we asked for the check to leave.
The next day I called up the restaurant( because I didn't want to make a scene there) and spoke with someone who said the General manager would call me back but he never did.
There are different types of isms( racism sexism) and I experienced age ism. I tip over 20 percent but that night was the first time my boyfriend and I had given much much less. It's a shame because we are paying customers and to treat us poorly really reflects negatively on...
Read moreDelicious wood-fired pizza! The Margherita pizza isn't Neapolitan as the crust and dough are a bit thicker. The pizza is a bit dry and my hubby didn't enjoy his as much as il Canale or 90 second pizza.
While simpler is usually better, I prefer a pizza loaded up with toppings here as Paradiso has super fresh ingredients and knows how to slice and dice veggies! Ironically, I had a veggie pizza at Domino's the night before, and could definitely taste the difference in freshness of the ingredients and craftmanship of the pizza, Paradiso was hands-down the winner!
My custom pesto pizza packed with veggies was bursting with flavor in every bite from the creamy fresh goat cheese. There was no shortage of cheese and It's sourced from a farm in PA. The diced roasted eggplant, roasted garlic, spinach, and thinly sliced red onions were delicious and elevated the flavor. The mozzarella cheese had a nice subtle flavor but a bit overpowered by the goat cheese. Of the half dozen or so toppings, the only one I would skip was the chopped chunky sweet red peppers, the raw peppers didn't pair well with the pesto sauce and other ingredients. Raw peppers would pair better with tomato sauce or roasted peppers would be tasty! I would love to try the toppings with a twist on a tomato sauce pie and swap out the goat cheese for the buffalo cheese - next time!
The Pomme Mary cider is on the drier side with a crisp taste and a hint of sweetness. Perfect balance between sweet and dry.
The tables in front of the restaurant are 6 feet apart and have a nice umbrella awning, perfect for shielding us from the rain.
Pizza Paradiso is a staple of DC and visited 1/2 dozen times over the years at the other locations in Dupont and Alexandria. The Georgetown location is my favorite! Can't...
Read moreI have frequented PP before my Yelping days and have been a fan of their pizza. I returned to PP last night after a while - just never got around to pizza recently. I run past this place all the time and have always noted the extra long line of people waiting for their tables. That I'm guessing is a big reason for people rating this place poorly - their entire eating experience is put off by the long wait time. Secondly, the place is small, and loud (in a good way) but that puts some ppl off too.
Me, I dont mind the wait - happens at all good eating places in the DC area. I dont mind the noise and cramped seating too - I'm a city guy!
The food - I like their pizza - one of the very few places in the DC area where I have consistently liked the pie, crust, toppings, and all!
I like the fact there is not a ton of cheese on the pizza nor do I miss the tons of tomato sauce on the pie that has become the norm in all places pizza.
We go to PP close to 9 PM on Monday night and the place was 90% full even then! Luckily there was a table for 2 open and we were seated immediately. Out waiter was new and did not have answers to my beer queries. But rather than give me some BS answer, he promptly summoned the manager who was able to answer my queries! One big star for that :)
The olives are one of the best I have had at any restaurant!
We ordered Bosco (Tomato, Mushrooms, Spinach, Red Onion, Mozzarella) with Sausage and Pepperoni as extra toppings. Pizza was good and so was the sausage topping. Pepperoni was not very salty - I liked that!
Tried the Tiramasu for dessert - will say that I have had better. But hey, this is a pizza place.
