I have been going to Jesse Taylor’s for years which made me a loyal customer. I travel from Va and pass plenty other crab places but I still continue to go there. Even know a few of the workers by name as they would know mine with my face. I went this pass Saturday and got 2 1/2 dozen of extra large males never known them to ever be that cheap $35 a dozen so of course I got them. I went to Stan and again been going for years, to go all the way home and was totally disappointed to have opened several of the crabs to find them VERY light and a smell so the meat was soft and mushy. So what would anyone do who spent money on something ? you call to the place. I asked to speak to Stan and he came to the phone I Identified myself told him what had happened. And to my surprise he was telling me that he picked me out good crabs and I didn’t know what I was talking about. Then he proceeds to tell me if I see him there don’t come back and hung up the phone. I was in shock. I called back and spoke the the manager on duty which said basically the same thing but he said what do you want me to do? The crabs aren’t empty they have some meat in them so enjoy what you have and we’ll take care of you next time. REALLY!!! there won’t be a next time. I understand that’s what they do for a living (Pick Crabs )but you can’t see what’s inside of them until you open them. So for him to tell me and for the manager on duty tell me that they were good without seeing them on the inside. They lost a frequent paying customer Especially If that’s the way your loyal customers are treated. I will be going else where. Clarence I hope you put some of your men though customer service classes. With the new development of the Wharf and the money that people spend to live and eat there. Who wants to deal with...
Read moreI really wanted to like it, but i did not! I have been eating Maryland Blue crabs since they were invented and today was the worse ever experience at this place. We bought 6 oysters and 6 clams as appetizers and 12 bull crabs (biggest available). Upon return to hotel, we realized that the clams were far too rough and tough to eat raw (we have had much better cherry stone clams before) and the oysters were small, tasteless and disappointing. On top of that there is a very rude oyster shucker who demands a tip! Then we went onto the crabs hoping to wash the bad taste but got even worse. The fella who atended us, “was gonna look after us” he said. Gave us 15 crabs instead and charged us $80 instead of the advertised $135 ……. Now we know it was for a reason. This is the summary for y’all out of 15 crabs: 4 stunk of ammonia and were black inside …. All went in the bin (down to 11 crabs here) 8 of them weighted less than 5oz (150 gr) which is less than a small female should weigh. We bought the Bulls for a reason ffs! Bulls should all be over 300gr (10-11oz) and 7” in width. So these 8 were not worth the hassle to eat them! Down to 3. 3 were reasonable weight (never more than 250gr or 9oz) but over cooked. In fact, whoever cooked them, needs to learn how to cook them. Steam for 27 minutes, not 27 hours and you meat will be plumb and nice to eat. ALL these crabs were a MUSH! Disgusting. Summarizing, $100 dollars in the bin!
You are better off driving to Silver Springs and getting really good crabs from Ruff N Ready Crab House! Or 5 miles away in Chillum MD….. you’ll love them .. .worth the trip! Sorry for the bad review but this was our...
Read moreThis seafood market is absolutely worth the visit—what a gem! Inside, you’ll find a wide variety of incredibly fresh seafood at very affordable prices. It’s a haven for seafood lovers, and what makes it even better is the convenience: you can choose your seafood right on the spot, and they’ll steam it for you so it’s ready to enjoy as soon as you get home.
While I personally wasn’t a fan of their seasonal seasoning powder—it tasted a bit herbal, almost like traditional Chinese medicine—it’s really just a matter of personal taste. The freshness of the seafood more than made up for it. Everything I tried was of excellent quality, especially the oysters. They were unbelievably fresh, sweet, and juicy—hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I honestly couldn’t get enough!
The service was also top-notch. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient throughout the whole process. It’s the kind of place where you feel taken care of, even in a busy market setting.
A couple of things to keep in mind: there were no napkins available, and the seasoning options were very minimal—just some basic lemon slices. So if you like to dress up your seafood, you might want to bring your own sauces or extras.
All in all, if you’re a seafood fan or just looking for a unique, local food experience, this market is a must-visit. Fresh, flavorful, and full of energy—it’s the kind of spot that turns an ordinary meal into...
