Absolutely awful. Literally, I'm embarrassed for them, but this place has crossed the line from being disappointing to making me actively angry. I got the ceviche mixto, tamales de elote, y the el tipico desayuno. Ceviche was almost entirely red onion. Description states there's also cilantro, jalapenos, and herbs... this is legit the worst ceviche I have ever had. It was basically a to-go container of red onion with a few shrimp, a couple tiny cubes of white fish, and really small squid rings. I could taste the lime but I paid $16 for a ton of red onion, the very few bits of seafood were very clearly frozen, and were not thawed well. I've never had shrimp that has actively dried out my mouth.
Also they didn't even peel off the shrimp lmao.
Tamales de elote... Two very small tamales that were essentially disintegrating. Not very sweet, very wet. Edible but could've just been a plain tamale for all I'd know.
El tipico... Did not have any avocado. The eggs weren't fried, they were scrambled and were scrambled with bell peppers which weren't even mentioned as a potential ingredient in the description. I don't like scrambled eggs and have digestive issues with bell peppers sooo so much for that. The frijoles refritos were in a sad little side cup. The accompanying tamal is legit the smallest I have ever seen, smaller than the tamales de elote. Plantains were cold and weird. Did not come with the two tortillas as was said in the description, but I doubt I would've missed them. I have a chronic health condition which makes it hard to get an appetite, hard to get out to shop, this was such a waste of money and such a joke.
And yes, I'm very familiar with this type of food. I lived in La Union around Playas Negras for awhile. I'm just mad I wasted my money on them. This place is awful. Next time I'd pay for an Uber out to the spots in Herndon or Sterling. Even with a $50 Uber trip there and back, that'd still be more worth it than this place. PS they did not include the...
Read moreThe food was disgusting. Well we had the Papusas which were normal/good. Nothing too exciting. But the batido de fresa was just frozen strawberry margarita mix. Our entree was the fajita plate with chicken, beef and shrimp. It was awful. It just tasted like old disgusting meat that should have been thrown away. We literally could not chew the steak. It was just too tough and dry. The chicken was not as bad but it tasted old and dry too. And the shrimp was also bad! They were not shelled or cleaned. And they too tasted dry and old. We were so sad because there is a wonderful place across the street with really good meat for a really good price. The place is called Juanitas. Go there instead! They did not offer us a discount until we asked and then they just took off a percentage of the plate that we didn't eat. The manager never came out to apologize even though we were the only people there. We will never come...
Read moreWe learned about this establishment about eight months ago by word of mouth from our family Uber. He has told me that La molienda hardly rechecks any customers to return. I'd like to say that this food is a little bit above satisfactory.
I ordered the steak poblano, comepoɓlkm3 with arroz amarillo con concombre y tomate de cada pieza and green sauce. To me, I could rank this flank skirt a whole letter grade higher than a T-Bone at CIdP with about the same lower cost. Noting that the steak was juicy and stll warm after about an hour's wait til I got home, gives credit to the salesperson who boxed our order. The rice looked like it came from a individual serving size salsa bowl turned upside-down in the container. We also got the black beans in a small plastic pack with lid.
I am excited to talk about la Molienda Restaurant, and would strongly recommend it for a small...
