Total lack of communication between waitress/greeter and other staff, lack of quality when it comes to the food, steeper than expected prices.
My first time. I went in to get some food to go for a friend of mine who was craving it after not having it for a long time. Saw the sign outside that said $10 pasta bowls to go; and I asked the lady that took my order what that meant, and she said “spaghetti and meatballs; noodles and Alfredo; basically anything”. So I ordered spaghetti and meatballs expecting it to be $10, but it came out to $14 since meatballs are $2 extra-which I was not informed to until after the fact. Got home and found that the noodles were undercooked, and the sauce had no flavor. Also, the baked rigatoni with sausage bowl was $18, rather than $10 (which is what the waitress quoted) and the “sausage” was nonexistent. So $8 for a missing ingredient.
From now on before I go somewhere I will take a minute to look at my receipt before handing my debit card over. I was surprised at the high total after my card had already been ran. After which I mentioned it to the waitress, then another waitress informed me that meat (for two disappointing meat balls and non existent sausage) was extra. Nothing was done to fix the misunderstanding or the lack of information to me being charged $12 more than I was being expected. I should of walked out without handing my card over after looking at the receipt and saved me the $50 I paid for a total disappointment.
First time. Last time. I...
Read moreAbsolute worst service I have ever received in my life. As far as I could see only the managers and bartender were adults and the rest of the staff seemed to be teenagers. The host seated us without silverware, plates, napkins or bread. As soon as we met our waiter I knew it wasn't going to go well but we didn't seem to have much of an option. Most guests were seated all in the same area and not very well spread out. After ordering our food, I noticed another server was in fact available and he seemed pretty good, but by this point it was too late. Our server seemed to lack the most basic skills required to do his job. Communication, observation, friendliness, attentiveness... our appetizer, salad, and dinner all showed up within 5 minutes of each other and we had to ask for the bread all the other guests seemed to be getting. The bread was not warm, 2 out of 3 items in our appetizer had the same problem. By the time the main course had arrived, I was so angry at the whole experience I chose not to eat it. I didn't feel the quality of food matched the price you pay and certainly not the level of service. This was supposed to be date night for us. I felt bad asking for any refund or discount after complaining to the manager, and she also didn't offer. So i said I would pay for the food I ordered and took the rest home. The spaghetti didn't agree with my husband so we both gave up and threw...
Read moreFirst off let me say I am glad I didn't let the negative reviews on Yelp steer me away from Mamma Mia's. I had driven by it 100 of times and finally decided to try it out, and let me say I am glad I did!
First off let me say that the decor in this restaurant made me feel right at home. The decor is clean and welcoming, I think I may paint my kitchen or dining room the same color.
Before we ordered we were brought a couple of rolls. These were soft and still warm, and you could tell they are made in house.
I ordered a calzone with meat sauce and Canadian bacon and pineapple. Now I love calzones and have until recently thought that Pete's Calzones were the best in Spokane. Well after today Mamma Mia's is now my place to go for a delicious calzone. The crust was perfect, almost cracker like and you could tell the dough was made in house.
My wife ordered Jerry Baked Spaghetti with sausage. First off the portion was huge. The spaghetti noodles were just right and the sausage was a little spicy and gave it a good kick. The presentation was great and I ended up helping my wife finish off the entire plate.
I am glad I took the risk and stopped in, because we now have a new favorite Italian...
