Walked in really hoping this would be a good pizza place--you know, a place that we wanted to come back to. Sadly, that did not happen. The place was empty when we walked in other than one table of people outside. We were greeted by one of the two girls working, sat down and our server came over, brought menus and asked us if we wanted waters. Waiting....waiting....no waters. By that time a table of 7 had come in and our server seemed overwhelmed at the prospect of having to serve two tables at once, dropped us and was focused on them. We had to get her attention and asked for the waters....plural. You know, the waters (plural) that you asked us if we wanted when we first sat down just several minutes ago? Clearly annoyed she hurriedly brought us ONE water. ????? Um, ok? The place appears clean on the surface but as soon as we sat down I could tell that no one pays attention to cleaning the small stuff like S&P shakers and menus, etc. Prices are high--but on par with every other "sports bar type" pizza place in town. Just another cookie cutter wanna-be "upscale" pizza place with more focus on wall to wall TVs and loud music than providing good service and making good food. Too bad--we don't care if you're trendy--- we were just looking for good pizza. We got our pizza and although I am not a fan of cracker thin pizza crust, the flavor was there and it was actually quite good for what it was. I don't know that I will be in a hurry to come back for the prices you pay for such a scant product--but it was ok. When we were almost done, our server (I don't have her name because under "server" it only says "Day Shift" on our receipt) came over and we asked if they had any other crust options. "Day Shift" said no, they only have gluten free--but if people want a thin crust they just stretch the dough thinner. "Day Shift" walked away and we both looked at each other--mouths dropped open, kind of laughed and said (to each other) "Thinner than what we just had?" It was funny because as we were eating we both commented on the fact that the crust was paper thin and we didn't know how it would even hold another topping. This was a conversation between the two of us--AT OUR TABLE, a good 15 to 20 feet away from our server--who apparently felt it necessary to listen in on our conversation. From the register behind the counter she yelled across the restaurant (by this time filled with more customers) with a huge attitude and rudely barked at us--assuming there was something wrong with our pizza. Are you serious? This isn't junior high--and I am confident when I say you have better things to do with your time than heckling paying customers and interrupting their private conversations. You know, like actually serve customers the items they ask for--that YOU offered. Or maybe you could wipe down the smeared, dirty menus--or clean the tops of the red pepper flake and parmesan containers...? They are disgusting. Even though I didn't really care for your pizza crust, we were ok with our selection and even the on-the-high-side prices. What we are NOT OK with is being waited on by immature, rude, petty CHILDREN. This is what happens when business owners don't hire a grown-up to be in charge. It is 100% OUR RIGHT to rate your pizza and talk about what we liked or disliked. WE were NOT loud---like you. WE were NOT rude--like you. So, "Day Shift", I hope the larger table of 7 that you dropped us for left you a generous tip---because we only left you 42 cents....and you were worth...
Read moreMy husband and six year old daughter and I decided to try out local pizza joint tonight! When we came in, not a single staff member was to be seen for about 10 minutes after choosing our own table. There was less than 10 people in the restaurant when we arrived. After the waitress finally came out she asked us what we wanted to drink.. we got 2 lemonades and my daughter got a chocolate milk.. which took an additional 10 minutes to receive… when my daughter chocolate milk came out it wasn’t even stirred.. I had to take the lid off and stir it so she didn’t drink straight up chocolate syrup.. after she sat out drinks down we informed her we were ready to order. We ordered an appetizer which was the potato wedges we also ordered a kids meal with 2 slices of cheese pizza, a large Buffalo chicken pizza, and a large salad. After we ordered pizza a big group of young people came in and instantly sat at the bar.. my husband and I saw her take their orders and not a single ID was checked, yet she right away made a round of shots for each of them and beer.. We then saw the waitresses attention quickly turn to only the younger crowd.. We waited a tad over 45 min for our pizza to come out which is okay.. but we expected to have at least our app before the pizza came out but it ended up coming out all at the same time.. not to mention everything was SUPER COLD.. I asked for a fork for my salad as I was not provided one and had to wait an additional 5-6 minutes to get a fork because “she had to go and wash them” she did come by and ask us how the food was and we asked water for the table.. she only brought one water.. so we had to wait and ask for more water but instead went to the bar and started making her friends more drinks.. when we asked for our bill she was talking to her group of friends and acted annoyed that we were interrupting her.. when she brought us our boxes and bill she didn’t bring a pen.. she went straight back to talking to her friends so my husband had to go get a pen just to sign our check. After waiting around for an additional 10 minutes and get walking by the table twice without taking our card to process my husband stood up to get her attention then she finally came over..
Needless to say.. we are super super disappointed with our service and food.. it wasn’t worth the 60 plus...
Read moreI have been to McClain’s numerous times throughout the years but I decided that before we entered the restaurant for our July 8, 2022 visit that I would review it…good or bad.
My wife, two small children, and my parents went for dinner. It always smells like a true pizzeria in McClain’s and on this night it was busy but we were able to get seated right away. Our server was James. My 5-year-old and 2-year-old each ordered off the kid’s menu with my oldest getting the 2 slices of cheese pizza and my youngest the chicken tenders and jojos. My wife ordered the Italian sandwich which also came with jojos. My parents and I ordered two medium pizzas to split…the spicy thai and meat coma. The spicy thai is probably my favorite pizza of all time and it didn’t disappoint last night. So so so good. The flavor, slight spice, and fresh ingredients always satisfies me. The meat pizza was superb too. Pizza prices, in my opinion, are a little spendy but the quality is definitely worth it. My wife loved her sandwich and the kids ate their dinners (which these days isn’t always the case).
All of us adults ordered beers and it is worth noting that all brews at McClain’s are always cold. I don’t know how many times I have been to restaurants and the beer is lukewarm…it happens more often than you think. So I really appreciate an ice cold adult beverage which you can get every time at McClain’s. All tables have boxes of Trivial Pursuit cards that we used and enjoyed last night as we waited for our food…they are a nice touch. Last but not least, James did an excellent job taking care of us. He had a superior command of the menu, provided recommendations when we asked, and had an engaging personality. I am pleased to give McClain’s a 5-star review and I look forward...
