Stayed at the Line and ate at No Goodbyes in June. For starters the lay out is confusing if you're coming from the hotel, there's no signage that states you have to find the hostess stand that is on the other side of the restaurant, and the hotel access opens right into the middle of the restaurant.
Other than the layout being confusing, there were these placards marked "Reserved" on EVERY table, when we asked if there would be enough seats for my wife's work party they said "Oh those are just what we use for decoration...." (WHAT?!)
The worst part of the experience by far was the service. When my wife and I tried to order some food I casually said "We'll have the burger and a basket of fries" (The items are listed separately on the menu) the server said "Basket?" Then proceeded to, in a condescending tone, describe the cup the fries came in. We wanted one unit of your menu item, just infer as such and write it down...
Later after many more people joined us, and the admittedly overworked, (There were probably 24 tables in their half of the restaurant) finally came over to take more drink orders after a 35 minute interval. I asked if they have Sailor Jerrys and the response I received was "What's that?" with a face. I know not everyone's going to know or have every brand of alcohol, but again like the Fries thing the diplomacy was not there. As this server either wasn't trained properly in customer service or ignored any instruction they may have received, they didn't ask clarification or for a flavour profile.
I informed her that it was a dark spiced rum. They recommended something and I took it, but they did not prompt the description from me.
Some phrases for this server to learn:
No, I'm sorry, we don't carry that could you tell me what it's like? I'm sorry, we don't have that product. We deal in local and house label alcohol, could you tell me the flavour profile you're looking for so I can find a match?
Anything other than making a face at me would have...
Read moreThis place is stunning. Looks like old Masonic architecture. I was a bit confused when I arrived because there wasn't a clear sign that I saw.
As you enter there is a coffee counter with pastries & friendly staff that offered my pooch a treat as I ordered. Inside the main room there are cathedral ceilings, comfy armchairs, wrap around couches, tables of many sizes, footrests, benches, etc. a bar on either side separated by glass walls. Good music playing softly in the background. Tastefully decorated with interesting art, plants, antique brass & glass fixtures, a mezzanine w/brass rail, even the bathrooms are gorgeous w/ brass & marble throughout & art deco mirrors. They are unisex with each toilet having it's own solid locking door showing if it's occupied, nice thick towelettes & lotion.
Even though it's a cavernous space full of people it was surprisingly quiet. The couches are on large rugs, herringbone wood floors throughout. Floor outlets about every 6 ft for easy access. Didn't try the food but simply a great place to work, read or just relax w/ my dog cozy & snoozing on the carpet. The 2nd time we came the thoughtful lady brought out a large dog bed for him.
I will be back here for certain especially because they are dog friendly. I noticed some Karens complaining about dogs in the comments but if you don't appreciate dogs the place is huge. Either choose a spot away from the beast or politely ask them not to sit near you. Most people I encountered were nice but I also ask first if they're ok with the dog before I sit near them so I rarely run into problems. Most people love having a dog around. It makes a more cozy setting honestly & when I'm traveling it's hard to find a nice spot to relax for a girl & her canine...
Read moreWent for brunch and it was underwhelming. We started with the fluffy mimosas and a drip coffee; it took a very long time to get the drinks compared to how many people we saw inside. Server forgot the drip coffee and it arrived after the cocktails. Sadly, the fluffy mimosas were not good. We each ordered one, and at first they were delivered to the wrong table, but when we did get them we noticed they looked very different from one another. They tasted very bitter and not of anything bubbly. We told the server they were not good and asked for a regular mimosa. The server went to the bar, got a straw, and then asked to taste the drink we had already sipped from. Server then looked at us and said “well if you don’t like it.” Being gaslit at brunch was not on my bingo card for the day. We did get the normal mimosas, which were deliciously bubbly and as you’d expect. For food we got the deviled eggs, fruit, pastry assortment and shared a bagel. Bagel was pretty good, but I think CYM is better. Pastry assortment means one blueberry muffin, coffee cake slice and a croissant. All very good. Fruit was a LOT of blueberries, strawberries and one very tart green apple. Good. But the deviled eggs, I love an egg but this was probably the worst I’ve ever had. If you like vinegar you’ll love it, but not to my taste. For a Sunday late morning it didn’t seem like they had enough staff. It was hard to flag anyone down for anything. Hostess was lovely to chat with and the building itself was beautiful, but I would not recommend for anything more than coffee...
