SCAMMED MY CARD WITH 30% TIPS I visited the Union Market location on 22 Dec, it took forever to order with 2/3 slow workers. When it was my turn I ordered the 2+2 BBQ Platter with the brisket and ribs and as you can see how little the portion were. Not to mention it was underwhelming and I am not even from the US but I have had much better BBQ in other countries.

The biggest issue is they have scammed me with unauthorized 30% tips, making my transaction $25.5 when the lady at the counter has confirmed the price is $22 instead. When I was in line, I have seen her using her phone as a tap machine and it is all in Spanish so no one knew what she had done. I specifically confirmed the price before I tapped and yet I checked my bank account the next day and found out they have charged me 30% more. I have left DC so I could not go back, I find it deceiving and frustrating even $3.5 doesn't sound like a lot. If she would have asked for a tip with different options in English, I would have had no problem tipping. If you unfortunately have visited them, CHECK YOUR CARD especially as a tourist.

Update: I called and the owner refunded the unauthorized tips so I do appreciate it. He mentioned it was not intentional which I doubt, the lady asked the person in front for tips (despite the instructions on the phone were all in Spanish) so why did she suddenly forget to ask me, confirmed the total amount with me and then charge the...

In the pictures, I combined all of my food because that's how I like to eat it LOL. But when you receive the order, the sides do come in separate cartons. I dined here for the first time visiting Union station and I am thoroughly impressed! When I come up North to visit, I usually have a rough time finding a good food spot that's closest to the southern food that I like. I must say that I was very impressed with this restaurant. The man that took my order was truly the sweetest person and was amazing! He was very accommodating to my order request and just had the utmost best customer service. I ordered The two meat special but chose double chicken because I don't eat beef or pork. For the sides I ordered the mac and cheese, the bourbon beans, and it came with cornbread. The food was out of this world! I chose the Kansas City BBQ sauce and I believe the Texas barbecue sauce. It went perfectly with the chicken. It also came with coleslaw which was really good, especially since I usually don't eat coleslaw. All of the good tasted good but my favorite item was the beans! I've never had beans that had peach in it and tasted so good. I wanted the recipe to this! I believe I received a great portion size for the amount of money that I paid. The wait time isn't too long either. I would highly recommend trying this place If you're looking for the closest thing to some real...

I have eaten this barbecue catered at an event, so I was thrilled to see that it has a Union Market location now. I just went there tonight to get the 2 & 2, and I was really looking forward to having their pulled pork and bourbon peach beans. I placed my order, and then they came back to say they had no beans left, so I ordered cucumber salad, and then they said they said they had no pulled pork. If these items are out, then they should remove or cover them up on the menu. I then asked if I could substitute brisket for the pulled pork (and since they didn’t have the beans) and they insisted I would still have to pay $8 extra when they didn’t have my original items in the first place.

Bottom line, if you are going to have a booth at Union Market, don’t run out of food. And if you do, don’t display it on the menu. It is horrible customer service to have someone order food that they have already materialized in their brain, and then have it thrown out the window one by one.

I am not going to give you 1 star because I know how good your product is, but you should take your Union Market more seriously and operate with some...
