The Dome Snowglow is a special, holiday popup located in a 50-foot sphere on the rooftop of Hi-Lawn @ Union Market. You have to purchase tickets for either 2, 4 or 6 people, via Resy, for a 90-min winter-themed immersive experience with cocktails and snacks.
I was able to snag tix for 2 on a Mon @ 5:30p. Rumor has it that it’s sold out until January, however, you might be able to get tix or roll the dice and try to walk-in.
When we arrived it seemed as though the elevator wasn’t working and there was a sign saying it was closed. Luckily, we decided to check it out and after walking several flights and opening a closed door, we were happy to find it wasn’t closed. From what I gathered, the staff forgot to pull the closed sign.
The Dome Snowglow popup has only been open for four days, so it is working out some of its kinks.
We were guided directly to our table which felt like a cozy sitting area in a living room. The ceiling featured a variety of winter scenes from the Northern Lights to fireplaces and snow falling in the forest. There were flocked Christmas trees all around and cozy lounge furniture.
Once you’re seated, you’re treated to a warm dashi broth as an amuse buche.
The cocktail menu is ok, I was thinking that the drinks might look a little more festive looking, but they were just ok. I had a cream de menthe flavored-drink accented with a chocolate truffle.
For appetizers, we ordered the mushroom custard, which was a medley of mushrooms and mushroom mousse with a savory cream custard. A little salty, but quite delicious if you’re a mushroom fan. The charcuterie was great. We also ordered the toast with salmon roe and lardo and crispy prawns. I wasn’t a fan of the lardo on the toast; and while the crispy prawns with cauliflower had a nice flavor, they weren’t anything special.
Our food took a little long to come out, so our waiter was kind enough to comp us shots for the wait, which was nice of him.
The ambience is like a cozy ski chalet and if you can get a reservation, it’s a nice holiday vibe.
Once the 90 mins is up, you’re encouraged to check out the front lounge area, which also has a bar, lounge seating and fun illuminated ski lift.
Depending on the time of your reservation, you can check out Union Market, if it’s still open.
The Dome Snowglow popup is open through the end of...

I recently visited Snowglow at Union Market Hi-Lawn with my homegirls for a girls' night out, and let’s just say the experience was far from what’s hyped on social media. What you see online versus what you get in person is like comparing snowflakes to slush. 🌨️➡️💧
First, the prices were astronomical for what was offered. 💸 A friend ordered a drink that tasted like TheraFlu—seriously, it was barely drinkable! 😷🥤 As for the charcuterie board, calling it disappointing is an understatement. It was so tiny, it wouldn’t have satisfied a 5-year-old, let alone adults. 🧀🥖➡️🙄 Then came what they called "prawn shrimp." I think most know prawns to be—large and tasty….these were more like popcorn shrimp. 🍤😑 At least the waiter was honest in describing them, saying, “think popcorn,” but he forgot to mention there’d be more cauliflower than shrimp. 🥦🍤 If I wanted vegetables, I would’ve ordered a salad!
Adding insult to injury, the website promises a heated room, but that was far from the truth. We ended up asking for blankets because it was so cold. 🥶🪵 While the experience is supposed to last 90 minutes, last call came at 60 minutes, and by the 70-minute mark, we were all convinced the heat was turned off to "encourage" us to leave. Talk about “you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here”! 🕒❄️
The ambiance didn’t deliver the cozy winter magic it promised. For what you pay, you'd expect an unforgettable seasonal escape, but instead, it felt like a poorly staged Instagram trap. 📸✨❌

Read moreThis review is for Snowglow at the Dome. I am still trying to figure out why I paid $35 for this experience. Unfortunately the weather in DC was over 60 degrees during my visit but despite the warmth outside Hi Lawn decided to still keep the heaters on creating more of an inferno experience. Nonetheless I was still excited to enter the dome to see the winter wonderland images. The inside of the dome is super cute but after that everything else goes downhill. The “welcome drink” we were told was a mushroom tea which tasted like dirt and by no means gave me a festive feeling.
Next please eat before you come. The menu is VERY limited. We ordered the charcuterie board which someone described as not being able to satisfy a 5 year old and this is a spot on description. We also ordered the “prawn” dish and it consisted of a serving of the smallest cauliflower I’ve ever seen and not to mention it was tasteless. Lastly the cocktail menu consists of $20 drinks that are average at best.
So if anyone wants pay $35 to take a few cute pictures, have miniature, tasteless bites and overpriced drinks l, then this experience is for you! The cover charge for this place is a joke and all the IG reels on this spot are...
