I made it in there right at the nick of time, because as I was ordering that were getting ready to close. I had been working all day at GW and had barely eaten anything, so by this time I was keeling over with hunger. They have a pretty decent selection of bowls that I wasn't familiar with, so I decided to order the steak and cheese sandwich platter. They call their steak something exotic, but I knew it was basically beef from a cow with some spices added to it. After I placed my order, I took a walk around the nearby park which was nice. When I made it back to the restaurant, my order was prepared and ready to go. The cost was $10.00 even plus tax which is sort of on the high end, but the price didn't matter to me at that point. I took my food with me back to the park and commenced to eating a few bites. The meat wasn't tough and it had a nice soothing flavor to it. I then started off on my long walk home finishing off the fries which were...
Read moreI've been visiting DC for work recently, and I can not recommend this place any higher. If you love Korean food, like Bibimbap, breakfast sandwiches, noodle bowls, dumplings, burritos, or any other street food, you must try this place. In the morning, until about 10:30, they serve breakfast. That means waffle sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, and more. I'm from Jersey, and love a BEC on a Kaiser, but Poppa elevates the BEC into an art. They have a special for 2 bulgogi (Korean beef barbeque) egg and cheese sandwiches and fries for about $10, but most dishes are more like $8. Sharing a bowl with a close friend seems like a good idea, as they are filling. If you come for lunch, you get some great options for bibimbap, noodle bowls, bulgogi cheesesteaks, and more. Everything is delicious, and I visited 6 times in a week, choosing different things each time. I'm looking forward to trying the rest. Visit here and you will not be...
Read moreI work three blocks from Poppabox, so when the weather permits and I am in the mood for Asian this is my go-to. The lady at the register is friendly, although sometimes it feels like she has her lines rehearsed so she talks over you. I don't believe this is because she intends to be rude, just loud and attempting to be efficient.
I usually get the Chicken Teriyaki Poppabox (bento box) for about $11 that consists of a side salad, three California rolls, fried rice, and chicken. They even give you ginger and wasabi to add to your food if you like some extra flavor. The whole box is filling and not too starchy so in my opinion it's worth the value by D.C. standards. The chicken is white and well-cooked, and when I add soy sauce the fried rice and California rolls are tasty and flavorful! I wouldn't say this bento box is far better than the average, but it's hard to find bento box options nearby so it's exactly...
