On Tuesday October 22, 2024, I was racially profiled at this shop . I did inquire about the prices because they were higher than what I am used to paying. Since I was in the area for appointment at GW, I showed the young nail technician my nails and told her this is what I wanted. I asked her the price, and then she told me that they added an 18% tip . I should have left right then , but had an hour b4 my appointment. . She could not figure out how much, and I did mental math and figured it out for her. She asked me if I was okay with the price three times, and the third time I asked her if she wanted me to pay before she did my nails and she did not respond. I proceeded to get my nails done and when she finished, I found out she had given me the basic manicure when I wanted the French gel one where your nails are painted before adding the French tip. My nails looked okay, and I am not complaining about how they were done, just how I was questioned about being able to pay for the higher price service. I requested. Never again will I get my nails done at this nail salon at 1926 I Street N.W. Wednesday, October 23, 2024. I am so disappointed in the way my nails looked today. They had chipped and I will need to get them redone for an event. The first picture is how they looked when I left the shop, and the second picture is how they looked one day later.

Unbelievable finishing touch, super thin gel, chips off in five days I was recommended to Queenies by two friends but I was very unsure whether I should book an appmt or not cuz the reviews were very bipolar. And maybe I should have trusted the bad reviews since only after five days my thumb gel started chipping away and hair got stuck in the cuticle lines when I showered. I think about seven of the nails have lifted on the cuticle sides so my hair gets stuck in them. And as you can see mg thumb and index finger’s cuticle side, the gel has been painted raggedly. Those aren’t because they were chipped. It came out like that straight from Queenies. Also, the gel is so thin that the thickness is equivalent to that of an ordinary manicure. I loved how they shaped my nail according to my preferences and the people were nice however, the end quality of my nails is a big No No. It’s only been a week and my nails are not doing fine. I ripped out the end part of my middle nail because they were very very lifted and causing inconvenience in daily life.

This is by far the absolute WORST nail experience I've ever had & I've been getting my nails done professionally for over a decade. I understand that a lot of folks admire Queenie's work as a nail tech, but please be aware that she is in fact the ONLY nail tech that does a good job in this salon. I came here and made the huge mistake of getting my nails done by someone other than Queenie and she was a nightmare. Not only is there dipping powder all over my cuticles, not only did she cut me on 2 separate fingers with her filing tools (and then proceeded to file it more after I told her to stop because I was bleeding - which only made me bleed more), but the nail already broke AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS! I am so aggravated and regretful that I wasted 1 penny for this manicure, let alone $55. I'm not sure what the woman's name is who did my nails, but Queenie has to do a better job of training her techs. I'm legitimately walking around with two of my fingers bandaged with neosporin on because of how badly she ripped my skin. Don't waste your time!

I went to this salon for the first time today during my lunch break. I arrived at 12:03. I wanted a basic pedi. I was taken immediately by an older gentleman. First off the water in the bowl was room temperature. In all fairness to him, he tried his best. But he was very very slow and I had to keep reminding him to trim my cuticles. After an hour, one of the ladies started looking over at him and at me (I guess she could sense that I was becoming a bit annoyed) It is now 1:10. She kept giving me a thumbs up and smiling. I sat there with a very small fan blowing on my feet for about 15 mins. after which i said I need to get back to work. I touched my toes and they were dry. The lady wrapped my feet in plastic and proceeded to put my flip flops on me. As soon as she did that 3 of my toes started to smear. Long story short she rushes over and immediately removed the polish and redid 3 of my toes. At this point I'm heated and continued to say I need to get back to work. She brought over a pair of their flip flops and put them on my feet. I ended up leaving there at 1:40. I expressed to the lady at the register that I was unhappy but I would pay for the service, but I had a problem paying their mandatory 18% fee (to me that's like tipping). I either don't tip or tip very little if I'm unhappy. She argued with me that she couldn't remove it. I said I'm not satisfied and that I should not have taken me 1 hour 45 mins to a basic pedi. I also mentioned that one lady had come in and had both her nails and toes done and was finished before me. She proceeded to say well I can't remove anything YOU CAN JUST NOT COME BACK!!!!! THAT pissed me off. That is poor customer service and I don't play that when I'm spending my money. I said oh no worries I won't be back. Again, the older gentleman tried but he was very slow and didn't do a thorough job. With this said I will not be back and I'm not sure why they have a 4 star rating. A huge thumbs down...

I wanted to love this salon.. they seemed to do pretty good nails, and the customer service is great. I will have to try Queenie if I go again and just go all out maybe for my bday. So far, I've been twice, and my polish has peeled off on multiple nails within a week or less both times. Also, I had them do a regular pedicure, which I really just wanted a polish change, but decided to just get a basic pedicure since I had already had one the week prior. The young girl did it, but she made my feet rough at the bottom. I guess because I got the basic service? My feet are very soft, and I barely have to use the scrapper at all. All she used was the pumice stone, and my feet were literally scrapping my partners when we layer in bed! Lol.. I've never experienced anything like that.

They are also very expensive.. It's $10 for each nail for a basic design with nothing special. So if you want 2 designs on each hand, that will cost you $40 extra. And to top all of that on my recent visit, they had added an 18% gratuity on to every service. Between that and parking, I'm just not gonna be able to go here. I waited to leave a review after my 2nd or 3rd visit to be fair, but it's the same thing. Nails peeling after a week. I don't feel like it's worth the money if I have to deal with these types of issues. I'm not calling out any names, but the young girl was wrong for that. I'll have to take my chances elsewhere. It's really hard to find a good salon now a days and I'm a loyal customer when I receive good services. And I make over six figures, so the money isn't the main problem, but not getting my...

I scheduled with Queenie on the strong recommendation of a couple of friends who see her routinely for builder gel manicures. I really wanted to like going to her, but have found the experience extremely subpar. Queenie is distracted throughout the appointment, either talking on the phone or watching something on her phone and constantly tapping the screen. She rushes/moves too quickly; I have had to tell her that she skipped adding a coat to some nails or didn't do to one hand what she did to the other several times now. I also don't feel like my requests are properly heard. She will say, "Okay, got it" without actually listening to my preference for shape, length, or color. The result is that each of the 3 times I've gone to see her (hoping that it would be a better experience each time), I've left disappointed with the builder gel manicure.

She also automatically adds 18% tip to all services, which honestly might be why she doesn't really put in that much effort. But if I'm paying nearly $100 for a manicure, I would hope that I'm getting exactly what I want. Since this isn't the case, I will not be returning. I give 2 stars instead of 1 because despite my overall dissatisfaction with the service, I have been very impressed by how chip-resistant builder gel is.

I do not recommend coming here unless you prefer a very hands-off approach to your nail appointments. There are so many good options in the city. Go...
