I’m back on my Vegan/Vegetarian kick!! So at least once every couple of weeks I’m going to hit one of these spots. Today…it’s an oldie but goodie!! It’s a STAMPED spot on H street that’s now downtown…LET’S GO!! . Where I am: @eatpowpow . Location Reviewed: 1250 I St., N.W. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: Wonton Chips n Salsa, Wonton Soup, Miso Soup, Sichauan Dumplings, Trolley Fries, Huge Egg Rolls, Chick’n Fingers, Fried Rice & Noodles, Bowls, General Tso’s Chick’n, Gluten Free Options, Desserts, & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Szechuan Dumplings (6 dumplings fried with red chili oil sauce, sriracha cashew peanut crumbles, scallions, & cilantro $9). LIKE THAT!! Flavorful, mildly spicy, tasty!! Their Taiwanese Fried Cashew Mozzarella Croquettes (plant based cashew mozzarella, Taiwanese fry batter, & Korean ketchup $9). STAMP!! CHEESY, savory, zingy, & spiced right!! Their Trolley Fries (hand cut with kimchi, cashew cheddar sauce, cilantro, Korean ketchup, scallions, & togarashi mayo $8). STAMP!! Fresh crispy fries, delectable savory toppings!! Their Disco Stick Giant Egg Roll (with grilled chick’n, carrots, pineapple, kimchi, cabbage, Korean ketchup, & sweet n sour sauce $12). LIKE THAT!! Crispy, meaty, spicy!! Their Teriyaki (grilled chick’n with pineapple, veggies, & sriracha drizzle $15). STAMP!! I couldn’t tell this was meatless!! Excellent taste, hearty, healthy!! Their General’s Chick’n (Taiwanese flavored chick’n with tomato, rice & black beans, burnt broccoli, scallions, & General “Tso’s” sauce $11). STAMP!! Plentiful, well seasoned deliciousness!! . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Rough . Music: YouTube-Northeast Groovers Metro Club Pocket . Recommendations: EVERYTHING aforementioned!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=STAMP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕=LIKE THAT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

We were doing the DC museum tour for the kiddo's spring break and had a few spots bookmarked. This was our first stop and we were off to a great start! Note: I miscalculated my parking reservation location and we ended up walking 28 minutes to get here. Needless to say I was so hungry I could eat a (plant based) horse! Firstly, the menu online is thorough but they have plenty more options on the touchscreen kiosks-enough to get overwhelmed with indecisiveness (a good problem). So as usual we over-ordered so we could sample plenty! Firecracker Cauliflower to start- everyone loved this and it was fully consumed. Not too spicy so the kids can eat it but lots of flavor. Crispy Lemon Parm Brussel Sprouts - these were okay and while not entirely finished- I think its moreso because we had plenty of other food at the table. While I love a crispy brussel sprout, I prefer a soy sauce over the lemon stuff. Chickn fingers- (teriyaki) - by far my favorite dish. I think they make their chickn in-house and these were perfectly tossed and not drowning in sauce. I have no idea what the accompanying dipping sauce was supposed to emulate - it didnt have much flavor- but honestly not needed. Very crispy and dense texture with a great teriyaki sauce. Chkn rice bowl- same fingers as above but without sauce and on top of rice with grilled veggies. It was a brown rice which tasted poor (as if instant out of a box) Mongolian beef n broc-I believe they use meati- the mushroom based beef. Noodles and veggies were great and could be eaten on their own! Jury is still out on the meati product line. Overall, loved the menu options and the fact the entire menu is plant based (note I didnt say healthy)! Super kind staff and I could see they were all hustling but still being attentive to all customers.

I visited here not once, but twice, over the course of a 4-day business trip. I may have been the only vegan in the group, but it was actually my omnivore coworker who suggested it the second time ((🥲)). And in fact, initially, my other omnivore coworker told me about it after hearing good things from a local. That being said, I don't think I could have avoided this place if I tried. Obviously, it was calling my name. On both occasions, I visited in a group of coworkers. We all really enjoyed our food and the chance to sit down together. I wouldn't say the atmosphere is crowded, but I can tell this is a popular place. I was impressed by everything I ordered. The first day, I got the General's Chicken bowl (half salad half rice). The "chicken" was fried perfectly, and the sauce was great over everything. The second visit, I just decided to be wild and get the giant version of the Disco Stick Egg Roll... Absolutely zero regrets. It was heavy/oily like you'd expect from an egg roll, but the inner fillings are there at the perfect ratio. It really is a giant egg roll. I'm still kind of in awe of it.. Oh yeah, and I also got a Wonton Soup that day.

"Disappointing Experience with Manager STEVE !

I'm a frequent customer at Pow Pow, visiting during my lunch breaks, and have always had a positive experience. However, today's encounter with Manager Steve left a sour taste.

Despite ordering ahead online and being recognized by the staff, Steve questioned my eligibility to use the restroom, citing it was for customers only. After verifying my identity, the staff member granted me access.

However, when I requested a simple modification to my order (swapping mayo for Korean BBQ sauce), Steve spoke to me in a condescending tone, pointing to the counter and telling me to sit down and wait. He claimed I should have made the edit online.

As a loyal customer, I felt belittled and disrespected. Steve's behavior was unacceptable, especially from someone in a managerial position. I promptly canceled my order I will starve before I’m treated indifferently.

If you plan to visit Pow Pow, I suggest avoiding Steve's shifts. His lack of customer appreciation and poor communication skills make him ill-suited for management. He needs some training on how to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS. I am disappointed in his leadership and will not return if he’s working.

Rating: 1/5 stars (solely due to Steve's behavior; previous experiences...
