Ruben's Dupont Circle — Restaurant in Washington

Sadly, I won’t be going to Ruben’s anymore. I’ve been going here since the first opened. Their food is honestly amazing. I only get to enjoy it when I’m in the office, since it’s right next to my job. Today I decided to get two tacos for taco Tuesday they have a special going on. I then wanted a drink I ordered the drink before I left. I ordered the mango drink, while the drink is already $6.50 plus tax .39 cents I noticed the total came out to be $8.19. I told lady at the cash register it was a mistake she said it wasn’t then proceeded to say it was the taxes. I told her to please go back and check sure enough they “AUTOMATICALLY” added 20% for tip $1.30. I told her to please remove she said I can’t it’s automatic. So you’re telling me I don’t have the option to reject? Insane ! It really saddens me that they purposely add tip. I made sure to let me colleagues know as well to be careful as they also like to go there on Tuesdays. NEVER GOING BACK! I went to this establishment and ordered a steak burrito and steak quesadilla. The total came up to $29.74, in which they charge me extra for steak for both items. The price is not the issue here, it is the quality of the food. The burrito was 5 inches long and the quesadilla was the size of a baby's fist. I was shocked because seeing the quesadilla in the wrapped foil package, I thought it was a slice of bread, honestly, I would've preferred that. The meat was not seasoned and the ingredients were basic and there was no Mexican flavors in anything. The disappointment in both was real. I would have rather gone to Taco Bell. It was my first time going to Ruben’s with a group of friends on Saturday night and they have this promotion going. I don’t know if they have it every weekend or not but they were giving out free shots Only first round they don’t have much of a selection, but the little selection that they do have is phenomenal, I personally got a mango shot and it was so delicious my favorite! And even the owner Ruben was helping out on giving shots great atmosphere and great music to dance to !
