For those 21+. If you're wanting to go out but too lazy to change out of your sweats, this is the place for you. Relaxed atmosphere with generally a college aged crowd and inexpensive. My first experience at Madhatter's was on a Thursday night, specials were $1 beers and no cover fee. Atmosphere was as noted, relaxed, crowd was stiff, and music honestly a bit stale for me. If you're in the mood to reminisce over 2012 top 40's again, this is the place to go however, I tend to enjoy something a bit sleeker. They had about three rooms and two bars, the main floor downstairs with a large, full service bar including two varieties of frozen drinks and two separate rooms upstairs with a smaller bar further back. Plenty of seating, and $2 coat check, which was the most convenient part. Bathrooms were sub-par, reeking of urine and dirty. Not to mention the treacherous stairwell with railing literally attached by what look like bungee cord or wire to get to the dirty bathroom. Lastly, they had a decent sized dance floor left of the entrance with strobe lights and the 4 self-conscious people trying to get turnt. Overall this is kind of the ideal place to go if you're young (underage), in college and really trying to learn the ropes of partying. Making memories of going out to a grubby club, where most youngsters feel just like you, awkward and uncomfortable, til they get a few $1 dollar beers in them, dance, have a good time, and maybe even get lucky. Quintessential college experience type stuff.

Read moreI was looking for a decent place to have brunch. When we walked in we did not feel welcomed not greeted or acknowledged in a timely manner. The place was not busy at the time. Finally, the hosted kinda gave us an uncomfortable stare asking can I help you. We replied yes would like to be seated for bruch. We were escorted to a small table in the middle of the place which we asked if we could sit at another table located to the side of the place near a wall. The hostess replied those table are reserved for more than 2 persons so we chose another table that she reluctenly let us sit after the agreement of the waiter. The waiter was great served us our drinks rather quickly very nice. However, no later than 5 mins we notice a couple of 2 persons were seated in the same table we initially asked to be seated where we were told was reserved for more than 2 persons. So we asked the hostess why were they allowed to sit at the table we asked about where clearly they were a couple of 2 persons? She smirked and laughingly said oh they've been coming here for the last 6 years. We asked her how long have you worked here...she said 4 months. Hmmm statement doesn't make sense but okay. Then we saw another couple of 2 person sit at another table next to the one we asked to sit. We asked again may be please move & sit at another table. We asked to speak to the manager who never came to see us so we left the building do the the poor service received and did not feel welcomed from the moment we walked in. So we never got the...
Read moreWe made brunch reservations for 1pm and when we got there had no problem being seated. Upon entering you take in the quirky decor, florescent bar signs, and trendy tunes. It quickly transports your mood to one of letting loose and enjoying the ambiance. Our waiter was very informative, attentive, and most of all had a bubbly personality given how busy brunch can be during peak hours. We opted in to the unlimited mimosa option and glad to say it was the best decision. The mimosa was more champaign then OG and the waiter did not disappoint in refill frequency, he frequented the table and would top you off before you finished one, I honestly lost track of how many I drank within my 2 hour time frame. Food we ordered the tasty french toast with cinnamon raisin bread and bacon as a side and it was perfect syrup, sugar, and texture that melted in your mouth great portion too. The madhatter biscuit sandwich was on the small side but did not lack flavor and was a solid breakfast option. The burger and chicken sandwich were good options can't go wrong but nothing to rave about. Overall, a more calm brunch to come with friends and actually conversate or come on a date, definitely not a boozy clubby brunch feel. The ambiance here is just right to drink as much as you want and get in a good meal with friends in a nice setting with great staff. Would come back for brunch but given it's DC, there are so many other options id try before coming back. It also has a bar area to watch sports games if you don't want to...
