Tucked away inside a quaint, european-style courtyard, Timgad Cafe can be a little difficult to locate. All the signs pointing to it make it seem like the cafe is inside a food court which, obviously, doesn't bode well for good coffee.
Fortunately, this isn't the case.
The coffee shop is beneath the courtyard and has some nice outdoor seating, though I think it's probably shaded most of the time, so it wouldn't be great for chilly days.
The shop itself is a little small and, depending on when you go, can be a little cramped. The seating mingles with the line to order which makes the whole atmosphere a little claustrophobic and chaotic.
However, that sort of plays into the charm of this place. It has the low-keyness and simplicity of a small-town coffee shop, right in the heart of Washington D.C.
I ordered a medium roast and the genoa sandwich. The coffee was good, nothing to write home about, but the sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. Made on the spot, and to order, it came out hot just a couple minutes after we had sat down.
The people I went with said their lattes were delicious.
I'll also mention that the staff was very kind. It's the kind of people that you would expect at a coffee shop in some hipster, small town, but wonderfully refreshing in a big city.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something off the beaten path, unique...

Review:
I recently discovered Timgad Restaurant while wandering through Midtown DC, and what a delightful find it was! This restaurant truly deserves five stars for its superb offerings.
First off, the turkey sandwich I had was nothing short of amazing—fresh, well-seasoned ingredients that showcased their culinary prowess. The ambiance at Timgad adds to its charm; it’s stylish and distinct, making my dining experience exceptionally pleasant.
Additionally, the service was both fast and friendly, ensuring my lunch break was nothing but smooth. Located conveniently in Midtown, near the metro station, it’s an ideal spot for either a quick bite or a relaxed meal.
The prices? They’re quite reasonable, especially given the quality of food and service provided. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, I highly recommend a visit to Timgad Restaurant for a guaranteed...
Read moreNice coffee shop in a surprising location: off of an open air, below ground level atrium next to the Ronald Reagan building. Rounded up from 3.5 stars to 4 for the location. Good selection of sandwiches. A few pastries, but may have been more earlier in day. Some packaged salads and a couple of soups on the menu. Small set of high quality bagged teas. I didn't try their chai which was a bad powder I think. 8-10 tables, plus 2 small bars, and half dozen more tables outside. A couple of power outlets. Local art on walls plus a board with quotations. Reggae on the sound system at low volume. I was there from 1130 to 200pm on a Thursday: lots of traffic around noon, but past 1245 there were free tables. Free wi-fi with password. (I was here in afternoon on 12May16 - just typed in...
