We attended The Rose concert at the theater this week. We usually go to Prudential Center for K-Pop but we were excited for a much shorter drive this time! (1 hour vs 4+)
In addition to being a closer, smaller venue, the theater is historic and beautiful! Definitely a great choice for history lovers, architecture or design lovers... and what a great spot for dates!
We opted to park in the adjacent parking garage for convenience and safety. Definitely recommend! (It's best for small to average vehicles.) Look for the add on to your concert tickets. You don't have to get the parking when you buy tickets. We did the add on the night before the show. It included VIP access through the lounge, which was so nice because there was no line, security was a breeze, multiple access for bathrooms and we could order from a bar counter with almost no line.
The theater staff for security and ushers were great. That's a big why for giving this 5 stars. It's always understandable when security or ushers are no nonsense but these were surprisingly patient, genuinely eager to help staff the night of our concert. I marveled at how content they seemed and what it must be like to work a super loud concert if you're not a fan of the music. They also kept their cool with masses of fans leaving the concert whereas we've had some really aggressive security ushering fans out at other venues.
I actually had a migraine the night of the concert so I can't even state how nice it was for so much of the experience to be less stressful and more convenient than some other venues. The show was definitely plenty loud enough!
We were seated in the 2nd row of the balcony, and my daughter, who knows The Rose better and is the bigger fan, loved the seats for our view.
As we attended for a concert, I am not sure the seating we had would be as ideal for a drama or magic show or act that isn't musical. We didn't need to be on top of the stage to enjoy the performance.
Some thoughts for others planning to attend a concert at Warner Theater... the seating chart seemed off. Just know that might happen. The seating chart when we bought tickets seemed to have us closer to the middle of the balcony but we were to the right more in actuality. The instructions within the app for parking and accessing the lounge were either not quite right or confusing for us. We found it fairly easily with the help of other concert goers in the parking garage. Make sure you check and abide by the security rules re size of bags and what you can bring.
This is a fun and conveniently located venue and because it's so pretty and creates such a lovely atmosphere we are sure to come again. It was also neat hearing the guys from The Rose commenting how pretty the venue looked with fans...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful. The Warner Theatre is, without a doubt, one of my new favorite locations in DC. I'll definitely be coming back to see more shows here.
One of the reasons I liked it so much was simply the way the auditorium was designed. It was a very Victorian, hand-crafted feel to it. Sort of what you would expect to see walking into a theatre from the 1800's. There's wood carving inlaid all over the walls, opera boxes, a massive, gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling and comfortable, velvet seats for everyone.
We ended up sitting only a couple of rows from the back, so I was a little concerned that we wouldn't be able to hear the show very well because, from what I could tell, there were no speakers near us. But the acoustics are phenomenal and we had absolutely no trouble hearing anything that was happening on the stage.
The theatre is also a little smaller than it seems so, even though we were near the back, we were able to see everything fine once everyone stood up. I do think we would have had some issues if we had sat down the entire time. The heads of the folks in front of us would have almost definitely blocked a bit of our vision.
Additionally, the staff was wonderful. They were all very nice, helpful and stationed at just about every corner so you could easily find your seat, even after the show had started.
I will say that the seats were a little bit tight. If you're standing up it's not really a problem, but sitting down can start to feel claustrophobic and cramped after awhile.
Apart from that, I had absolutely no problems. Everything was clean, easy to find and navigable. It's also nice that there are plenty of relatively inexpensive parking options all around the block. We paid $20 for a spot literally half a block away. Super convenient.
I'll definitely be...
Read moreDC hospitality at its finest. I arrived at 7:10pm for a 7:00pm show and they informed me that they've resold my seats because I showed up late. (At this point all the lights in the theater were still on, and they were moving props on and off the stage as they were still getting it set up. They had music playing over the speakers, and nothing seemed ready to go yet as people were still walking all over the place) I called the theater ahead of time and ensured I bought a ticket that will get me a clear view of the screen as I won't be able to see otherwise due to my vision. They assured me Suite seat B3 will be ideal which is what I purchased. They moved me to the corner behind speakers, cameras, and the lead attendant and told me to deal with it. To make matters worse, the attendant Mary Claire made it very clear that she was unhappy that I asked for my original seats that I purchased by proceeding to sit and kneel on the rails in front of us the entire show (pictures attached) she was like this the entire evening... The pettiest thing we've ever experienced. We were out on an anniversary so I did not want to ruin the evening so we just delt with the situation. An amazing show by Jeff Dunham ruined for us because I had to just go by ear and just imagine what the puppets looked like as he was talking.. We came 10 minutes late to a show that had not started and our seats were resold to the highest bidder and Mary Claire, the supervisor, made sure she ruined the rest of the...
