Ever since I visited Nawlins (pre-Katrina), I've absolutely loved Creole & Cajun food. Not nearly enough places to find it in the area, in my not very humble opinion. So when this popped up on my map, I beelined to it. Such a good idea! The digs are rather spartan, only a few tables. The mural on the wall is extremely well-done. Everything on the menu (except the sweet potato pie 🤢) is screaming "Order me!" I finally decided on a 12 ounce order of Chicken & Andoullie Sausage Gumbo & a side of Red Beans & Rice. C'est magnifique! Their business is predominantly take-out so everything is served in styrofoam. Environmentally horrid but great to keep take-out warm. The food is phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, hot throughout my meal, I would have gladly eaten myself into a food coma with either of these. 😋 With a pop/soda my bill was about $15. I can't wait to go back for a Po'Boy. I'm salivating at the thought already.

My dad and I stopped in for the first time to try this place today. We had been meaning to go sooner! This is a family owned business and they were so friendly and nice to talk to. I ordered the red beans and rice and my dad ordered the crab & crawfish etoufee. The food came out nice and hot! My dish came with a chicken tender and it was nice and crispy on the outside, but juicy on the inside. Perfect. The red beans and rice were really good. They had the perfect amount of spice, warm enough to clear out the sinuses, but not so hot that it burned my taste buds. They do not skimp on the meat, there was so much andouille sausage in it that I had some in every bite, which I love. They checked in on us a couple times to make sure we were enjoying the food, which was really nice. We enjoyed everything about our experience here today and I can't wait to go back and try a po boy, the french fries and mac & cheese!

Let me 1st start by saying this place is a much needed hidden gem!!!! I have been a few times, I go to a place more than once before I share my thoughts On my first visit I had the catfish po boy, gumbo& turkey neck. The flavor was amazing!!! The ingredients tasted very fresh. Bread to meat ratio on the sandwich was meat and bread in every bite. The turkey neck was an added bonus. They were simmering in a broth that I drunk afterwards. I prefer a little more rice with my gumbo, that’s just me. On my second visit I had shrimp po boy and the pecan pie. One of the staff was nice enough to call me when the pie was done. Well worth the wait. I’m not sure if they make the bread in house or outsource it. But it is well worth the money. Again the food taste clean and not dirty at all. Customer service is very great as well. In the future I would love to see a fountain machine with some kool aid or sweet T.

Bourbon Street Gumbo is the best Cajun restaurant in Michigan! I'm a New Orleans native & have craved authentic, delicious Cajun cuisine in Michigan but found VERY little! This pearl "hits the spot"! If I closed my eyes, I imagined being in the Garden District or French Quarters dining with excitement, intrigue & great SATISFACTION as I feasted on their seafood gumbo (which nearly brought me to tears), it was so delectable. The rich savory broth was absolutely crammed full of fresh seafood, like crab, crawfish & shrimp & REAL andouille sausage and okra!

The incomparable Chef Don and I discussed variations of red beans & rice (each good southern family covets their own secret recipes, & no two are alike!) Chef's red beans & rice had a sumptuous, deep, rich & flavorful gravy which (of course) featured the "Holy Trinity" of onions, bell peppers & celery, with a TON of andouille sausage and tender dark red kidney beans- The dish FELT JUST LIKE HOME!

My daughter had the chicken tenders- also featured in the chicken po boy (scrumptious)- & we have NEVER had a breading quite like that before; Crispy, light & incredibly flavorful!

Also, her mac and cheese was the BEST we've ever had! If you like ooey-gooey, rich & buttery dishes, then RUN, don't walk, to Bourbon Street Gumbo!!

Don, the proprietor and our host was exceptional!! His kind, generous hospitality was that of a true southern gentleman! We felt very welcomed, comfortable and entirely spoiled!

It was my son's birthday & Greg even brought us homemade sweet potato pie, which was also authentic, delicious & gone within seconds!

This is a culinary Oasis- outstandingly delicious- in a sea of steakhouses. Seafood places, burger joints and wingstops.

My friend and I visited Bourbon Street Gumbo and PoBoys this evening and it did not disappoint! I've been to Louisiana on multiple occasions and know authentic Cajun food and this place has it! I ordered the seafood gumbo and outside of my momma's this is some of the best gumbo I've had in Michigan. It was packed with seafood and I'm happy to know they did not leave out the okra or gumbo file! My friend had the seafood jambalaya and again it was packed with seafood and the flavors were spot on. We shared the hot sausage po'boy and it was so good my friend ordered one to go! The sausage and bread were definitely authentic to what I have received in Louisiana. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The only drawback (and it's minor) there is no public restroom because this is a carry-out spot, but you can dine in. We did dine in and the owner was nice enough to make an exception to let my friend use the bathroom. I'm looking forward to visiting again and trying more menu items as they...
