So seeing the reviews, I am not sure if they were posted before this place closed but recently after this placed reopened, I can honestly say the food was not good. On top of that, there only open certain days of the week and THEY choose the menu of what you are going to eat. You have no choice which is a huge down fall. Now the orderves were actually good which were the shrimp, crackers, cheese, etc. The first course started with tomato soup. Luckily I wasn't allergic to lobster because when I started to eat it, we noticed lobster was in it. I will say this soup wasn't bad but I hate tomato soup so it wasn't my favorite. As for the main course, I had the steak which I wanted it cooked medium. When I received the main course, the steak was a small piece of meat, it was cooked completely well done, it was covered with some type of blue cheese or something on top with a sauce that covered the plate including the green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. Now I am not a person who likes sauces and stuff on my steak. I literally took four bites and I was done. Now, my son who ordered lamb, he didn't like it at all. He said it tasted like rubber. Now, when we handed the plate back to the owner who was there, because we were done, he proceeded to give us a lecture about how where he lived, people are starving and people in the US waste food, etc. Kept showing us how much meat was left on the lamb bones. I thought that was completely out of line and the owner was disrespectful. Luckily I was nice and didn't tell him that his food sucked and it was horrible. And again, remember, you don't get to choose the meal that you want, they choose for you. So as for the desert, it was so pastry and it was like oatmeal filling in the inside with a scoop of ice cream. I was sitting by a few people and they did not like the desert either. So, bottom line is, if you want to spend a lot of money and have food be a surprise to you, then go to this place. If I could this place would get zero stars. It...
Read moreThis was an amazing experience through and through. You walk in and the staff seriously treat you like visiting royalty! The artwork is beyond phenomenal, I would have gladly paid just to walk through and view the various portraits. Once seated we were immediately greeted by our waitress who was very informative especially since it was our first time there and friendly. We chose to get the 4 course meal which was a fair price especially in today's restraunt prices. The appetizer which is your very first course ( in my experience it's like the first impression) we had the shrimp Puffs which was fantastic perfectly seasoned cooked into a delicious delicacy. I could seriously live off the lobster sauce on the bottom. From there the food just got better and better everything was well seasoned and surprising at every bite. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection making absolutely every bite worth while I'm not going to go into all we ate because I seriously want you to have the chance to try all the dishes not just what I recommend. The wait staff was very attentive friendly and very accommodating even taking photos with phones and cameras to celebrate the experience for the customers. I have not seen another restraunt like this in Waterloo ia it truly is an experience worth having and I highly recommend everyone to try it and see...
Read moreI walked in, no reservation no understanding, I am simply amazed at what is done here. The service is so attentive it can almost be confused with overbearing, I have never been treated with such high regard. The drinks are amazingly heavy on the contents, for you alcohol lovers, its a dream come true. The food, the ever so important food is mostly beyond comprehension, I may be biased but then again I have eaten my way across the world, the beef based dishes are on par with a three star restaurant but the lamb and scallops were beyond my expectations! While the salmon and lobster ravioloni was not up to par, every other starter was amazing, and I sadly have to admit the recommended chicken bites simply blows the mind wide open. For the vast majority all of the food was well worth any price tag attached. Lastly the ambiance is breath taking, the walls and ceiling are a rendition of the Vatican, everything feels welcoming and friendly, from the comfortable chairs to the friendly owner who comes to speak with every single person one would be hard pressed to feel unwelcome (unless your like me and don't like the host seating you). But again I have bias such as having anyone being behind me, so that may be unfair. But as I said everything at this fine place is unbelievable, I could not have expected a...
