If you're searching for a hidden gem in Waterloo, Iowa, look no further than Panache, an extraordinary tea boutique that truly lives up to its name! From the moment you step inside, you're embraced by a cozy, inviting atmosphere and a sense of genuine warmth that’s rare to find. What sets Panache apart are its amazing owners: a remarkable South African woman whose passion and charisma radiate through every detail, and her equally delightful mother, who brings charm and grace as she waitresses. Together, they create a space that feels like a home away from home. As a chef, I’m pretty particular when it comes to food and drink, and Panache gets it right on every level. The tea selection is nothing short of phenomenal—whether you’re a tea connoisseur or just dipping your toe into the world of loose leaf, they have something to amaze your taste buds. And let’s talk about the food! The South African-inspired dishes are a revelation. Each bite is crafted with care and bursts with authentic flavors that transport you straight to the vibrant heart of their homeland. Customer service here deserves a standing ovation. The owner and her mother make every guest feel valued, going the extra mile to ensure a memorable experience. It’s the kind of place where you’re not just a customer—you’re part of the Panache family. Two thumbs up (and honestly, I’d give it more if I had them)! Whether you’re in it for the tea, the food, or just the exceptional vibes, Panache is an absolute must-visit. Trust me, you’ll leave with your heart full and your hands full of tea to take home!

What a wonderful gem!!! My sister heard about Panache thru Facebook. Her birthday is upcoming - so I thought it would be fun for us to go there as a pre birthday treat! OMG - it was wonderful. First of all - the staff was awesome (the owners husband). We were immediately met at the door and they had our reserved table ready. I made reservations on line - which was super simple (and I immediately received a confirmation of the reservation and then later a reminder message before my reservation). I pre-selected the three course tea for the three of us. First of all, the gentleman asked us which tea each one of us wanted to start with (you could try three different teas per person during the meal). I started with Victorian earl gray and then later tried pomegranatopia. I loved both - which I was surprised - because I’m normally a plain Jane black tea person. They brought out the three tiered platters which included several different items. Scones and chantilly cream, assorted tea sandwiches, danish, macarons, fruit - to only name a few. They were beautiful - but better than that, they were homemade and delicious. Halfway through our lunch we were already planning to make reservations for another visit and also planning to return again before Christmas. What a special way to spend an hour and a half - the ambiance was nice, service fantastic, food and tea wonderful. A+++ you can tell they love their business and have the passion and dedication behind it. Thanks again for making her early birthday lunch memorable and special.

Husband and I called in and they were able to serve us without a reservation, but reservations are recommended. Decor and tableware is lovely and clean. Nice selection of tasty teas to choose from, you can just get a pot of tea or you can get a combination of tea and food items. We did not do the multi course tea service but will be back again to try that sometime. We chose to get the tea and crumpets (1 tea and 2 crumpets each, $10/person). The tea was flavorful and the crumpets were very good!!! They're like a small pancake with different toppings, we had the bacon/egg one, roasted veg/goat cheese, berries/cream, and whipped honey butter and we were very satisfied with all of them. We felt it was a very good value for what we got - you'd pay more for a coffee/tea + pastry at Starbucks or other coffeehouses and it wouldn't be as good in my opinion. It's a small staff, seemed to just be a mother/daughter team, very friendly service but don't go in expecting a quick in-and-out experience (our service took longer as we didn't have reservations already). All food is fresh and made to order. This is an experience to go, enjoy the peaceful ambience, and savor the treats and social time with friends and family. This would be a lovely place to go for a brunch date, birthday party, bridal...
