My recent visit to Perkins in Waterloo, Iowa, was delightful. Right from the moment we walked in, the welcoming ambiance enveloped us, setting a tone for a pleasant dining experience.
Our server, Ashley A, embodied professionalism and a warm and genuine demeanor. She was attentive to our needs, ensuring we had everything required for a satisfying meal. Her responses were quick and characterized by a positive attitude that added to the buoyant atmosphere of the restaurant.
The food was another highlight of our visit. It arrived promptly, showcasing the efficient service that seems to be a hallmark at this Perkins outlet. The flavors were on point, satisfying our palates with delicious notes that resonated with comfort and homeliness on this chilly rainy day.
Furthermore, Ashley A’s kind presence and attentiveness augmented our dining experience, as she ensured that our glasses were never empty and our table was always neat. She demonstrated not just skill and efficiency but a remarkable level of kindness that made us feel not just as customers but as valued guests.
To anyone in or passing through Waterloo, I would highly recommend stopping by Perkins for a delightful meal. Do not miss the opportunity to experience great food coupled with outstanding service, and if you get a chance, ask for Ashley A as your server to guarantee a dining experience that is a cut...
Read moreMy 1st clue to go else where was when I saw their eggs Benedict came with sunny side up eggs instead of poached. But against my better judgement, I decided to go with the steak and egg breakfast. The eggs were alright, can't really mess up eggs. But the steak was absolutely terrible. It was the bottom of the barrel standard or commercial cut. One step above what they'd grind down and give to dogs. (i should have known once the A1 came out). Ordered it medium since that's how the wife likes it. What we got was a bleu/rare steak with the texture of leather. I literally chewed one bite 30 times (once i started counting) and ended up spitting it out into the napkin. Even the garlic butter they served it with couldn't save it. The garlic butter was served cold and had issues melting down, normally its room temperature to avoid this very problem of melting and cooling down your meat.
The coffee wasn't bad, though. It didn't feel wanted down like other places do, and it definitely woke me up. The pancakes were actually fantastic though, ended up taking those home. The nice waitress and pancakes made it a 2/5. Everything else went into the trash. $23 dollar mistake, oh well. Avoid unless you're going for their pancakes, make everything else at home, and save some...
Read moreWe were immediately greeted politely and seated per our preference (booth). Moments later our waiter arrived to ask for drinks and promptly brought them. Service was attentive and fast. From ordering food, to plates cleared, to our check. Our waiter aloof, but did her job. Our appetizer, strawberry crispers, arrived with hidden toothpicks, which my husband had to pull out of his mouth after biting into it (the crisper was already cut in half, so this was quite a surprise to find a full toothpick). The other crisper was whole and the toothpick was hidden on the bottom with a couple millimeters sticking out that I only saw because I was looking for it after my husband found his. Otherwise, were tasty. Our food arrived and the fries were lukewarm, my sandwich had only one side of the six sides with a condiment (leaving it quite dry and fairly tasteless), and my husband found a hard bit in his country skillet putting him off the food. While we were eating, a nearby patron was blasting music (over the music playing in the restaurant) and then switched to streaming a show. We heard a staff member yell, "I hate it when it is slow!" After eating, we promptly paid (yes, we still tipped generously) and left. We won't be putting this on our...
