I have never been a huge fan of Indian food. Some of it has to do with my palette, and aversion to spicy foods. However, my friend loves Indian food so we went together. I have to say that dining at Indian Village has changed my perception. A nearly perfect experience for both of us.
Got there around 5:30. There was only one other table at that time. We got greeted/seated right away. Everyone there had sincere welcomes and smiles. They have an extensive menu and we were given plenty of attention and time to order. We ordered a couple of Indian Chai (tea) and studied the menu.
Since I was not sure of what to get, I asked our server, the owner, Apexa to help out. She did a great job sharing her favorite recommendations. We decided on an appetizer of Gobi Manchurian, and entrees of Butter Chicken, and Lamb Shahi Korma. OMG! What excellent dishes. The Gobi Manchurian had a little bit of heat (along with a sweet) and crispy and saucy. Could have literally made the meal of that. Both the entrees were hot, flavorful and good portions (I had leftovers of mine). We also got an order of Butter Garlic Naan bread.
Overall just an excellent experience. If I had to find something to improve on, it might be providing new/clean plates after the appetizer, and having our dishes bussed/cleared after we were done (we didn't ask).
On the way out Apexa wished us a good night, (remembering both our names) and encouraged us to come again. We definitely will be back. Loved everything about...
Read moreThis is my second time dining in, and both times the food was amazing, but the service was so poor that I would hesitate to go back. 3 other tables had diners who were already eating food when we arrived last night. No one else was waiting. It took 10 minutes to be greeted and get water. Another 10 minutes and the server finally came back and mumbled something to us. Unsure of what he said, I asked if we could order and he said yes. But mid-order, our server took a phone call on his cell phone and left us abruptly. Another server took over, but after she brought our food we never saw her again. As we were sitting with nothing to do after finishing our food, some loud dance music started playing and continued through service, which was amusing because it doesn't fit the atmosphere and it was hard to carry on a conversation. When we finally flagged our server down for boxes and the check, she brought boxes but no check. Another 15 minutes went by with me standing at the counter to ask again for the check, but no staff would come out from the kitchen. They have cameras, so I would think they saw me there. It was a very frustrating dinner service. We felt like they didn't want us there. It's too bad, because we all really enjoyed our food. But if they can't make their diners feel welcomed or turn over tables faster, this business...
Read moreI love a restaurant that takes reservations. There were six of us. They sat us and took drink orders. While most of us had Indian food before, we are by no means experts. We tried 4 appetizers, Samosa, chicken Manchurian, fish pakora, and haaka veg noodles. They are all flavorful and we couldn't decide which one we liked best. There were 2 large Samosa that we cut up to share. The other items had plenty to share. We each ordered a different main course. Lamb vindaloo curry (oh so tender and good), egg bhruji, chicken curry, chicken Malabar, butter chicken, and chicken vindaloo. We all tried each others dish, except my grandson's chicken curry - he said it was too good to share. We had garlic Naan and Indian Village built Naan as accompaniments. Delicious!! They main course came in a cute metal saucepan and the perfectly cooked rice in a little pan, alloeing us to serve how mich we wanted on our plate. It slso made it easier to yry other's meal. The service is excellent with great timing on taking our order and plenty of time to finish the appetizers before the main course was served. We did ask for medium heat. We all would have enjoyed a little more heat. I think they toned it back for us, which was thoughtful as it was clear we are new to the cuisine. It is definitely worth the...
