Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Waxahachie

So me and my wife thought let’s go to Applebee’s tonight and have a nice sit down dinner before bed. We got sat almost immediately, the host was awesome she sat and wiped the table and made sure we were comfy. Audrey was our server and we waited about 10 minutes, finally a gentleman came who was cut introduced himself and got us our drinks when our server never showed. He said I’ll get your drinks while you wait for Audrey. Absolutely unacceptable when she was just sitting in the back not wanting to come check on her tables. So I asked for another server other than Audrey and we waited for our other server “liliana” she shows and explains to us that, that is her best friend and not sure why we asked for someone else. When I explained, I told her that I find it disrespectful for a server to not check on her tables nor greet her tables! especially since me and my wife have worked years in the restaurant Industry it’s just disrespectful. that we waited so long without a greet from OUR server she got snippy and just said oh well. we got our food and our refills from two different servers than the one that took over which is so unreal and after we ate got the check, she handed me the check and said “we gave you a discount for our crappy service so here” I was so shocked by that answer, she proceeded to ask us which restaurants we worked at which was odd and proceeded to tell us some people take restaurants too serious! I’m sorry but yes I do take it serious. You’re handling our food that we pay for and if it’s not done right you lose business as well as get somebody sick!! This Applebee’s has great food but the servers are so so soooo bad. I do not recommend eating here. I do recommend chili’s, it’s way better service AND better food. Applebee’s has lost two customers

Arrived at an off time to avoid the lunch rush. There were 2 servers on and a bartender and only 3 people sitting in the restaurant part. Took almost ten minutes to be seated despite waving to one server and the bartender. Person who seated us was one of the servers but not our server. Thankfully we grabbed one menu while waiting because we weren't given any. We were the only people on our server's side. After ordering drinks, we were ignored until we practically did back flips trying to get someone's attention. One person in our party said she could see our server talking to someone at the bar the whole time without looking over at the table.

Once we ordered, food came fast but was missing parts. One person's salad had no dressing even though she made a point of asking about the dressing while ordering. Another meal came with no toppings on anything. The lunch special steak was supposed to be 6 ounces but was only about 2 inches by 2 inches (smaller than a dollar bill in thirds). The sides were smeared across half the plate in a very thin layer - I think to make it seem like you got more than you actually got, which wasn't much. It also made the warm sides cold by the time we got them. Food tasted ok but the server brought desserts out while we weren't even half done with the meal. By the time we finished, the ice cream (all one teaspoon of it) was completely melted.

Server left before we were finished and the other server took over (after closing out our tab mid meal). He was much more attentive even though we were on the opposite side of the restaurant. We saw him more times than we did our original server.
