Hibachio — Restaurant in Waxahachie

Not what I expected. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and got something I can only relate to some skillet fried ground chicken atop a bed of sushi rice. That rice was good so I'm giving 1 star for that. Despite the name of the dish, the entire container smelled like seaweed, weird? I also ordered the calamari skewers (garbage-it was completely over fried). Last but not least they tossed in a decent mayo sauce that was VERY good so that's where the 2nd star comes in. I used that later along with some MUCH better food I got from Teriyaki Madness up in Plano. Ultimately, I was just passing thru Waxahachie so it's highly unlikely that I'll ever stop at Hibachio again. Not trying to drag this place, it just wasn't appeasing to MY taste buds. Nice music, courteous staff, clean restroom and cool vibe-but I came for the food...

UPDATE: Management responded and said that mixed veggies do not come with their rice bowls. I don’t know what that means considering I got veggies in my rice bowl, but did not ask for them. Seems to be some inconsistency within management.

About a week ago, I came here and bought a chicken rice bowl. I nearly left a bad review, because I had been seeing a decline in the quality of the bowls for the past couple months. I deleted the review, and I’m glad I did. Tonight, my friend picked up a bowl for me on her way home, and might I say that this bowl took me back to when I first came to love Hibachio. I’m not sure exactly what changed, but keep up the good work!!! Best sushi in the area. Order on-line, pickup from the drive thru and you'll have the best experience. Wait times can vary depending on time of day and seating area is on the small side, so plan around that if you want to eat there. The staff is always friendly and very accommodating even when they're clearly swamped and short handed at times. One star taken away due to several small errors in orders. For example extra sauce, ordered and paid for, not included multiple times. I live too far away to bother with going back just for a sauce. The big parts are always right, just that little adjustment and they'll easily be 5 stars. Recommended for sure, just get it to go and check it before...
