04/27/2024 Lunch. My wife and I first ate at the Burleson restaurant in October of 2021 and had a 5-star meal. In December of 2021 we ate at the Mansfield location and had another excellent meal.
Today, we had lunch at the Waxahachie location. We shared the fried artichoke appetizer ($6.99 - so cheap!) and it was excellent. First time I ever had fried artichoke. It was light, hot (temperature) and some of the pieces were pleasantly crunchy. Individual artichoke leaves that separated from the piece were delicate and delicious. A must try if you like artichoke.
My wife had the blackened rainbow 🌈 trout, which she enjoyed (4-star). She said she would get it again. I had one of the blackboard specials, the surf & turf (steak and shrimp) quesadilla with black beans and rice. Also 4-star.
We each tried a cup of the NE clam chowder, which was creamy and filled with savory items. 4.5-stars in my book. We would both order it again.
Next time, we will probably skip the soup and one of the entrees in order to lower the bill by about $30. We'll share an entree and just have another order of the fried artichoke, which will cut out bill in half. Today we spent $59 plus a tip. And it was worth every penny. It was an excellent meal today for us! We will definitely be coming back.
Our server, Laura was super friendly and professional. She gave us honest opinions and our lunch was the better for it. Ask for her if you want to ensure a good experience.
Excellent: Uniquely satisfying. A special place. Very Good: Better than expected. Avg: An everyday experience. Just OK. Fair: Below par. Dirty,...
Read moreNew favorite seafood restaurant!! I love seafood but struggle to find somewhere that offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes. We decided to try Fish City Grill to celebrate one night and I’m happy to tell you they exceeded my expectations! The service is far above your average service - it’s spectacular! Everyone greeted us and our waitress, Olivia, made us feel special and well taken care of. Olivia was well informed about the menu and offered great suggestions for us to try. She also gave us a delicious sampler as a welcome for our first time. The sampler included the various soups and oyster nachos. I wasn’t sure about oyster nachos but they were amazing! I loved every one of the soups we tried - packed with flavor! We ordered oysters and calamari for appetizers. Both were fresh and so tasty! The oysters came with a fresh sauce that really made the flavor pop! I ordered a frozen margarita and I was very pleased to find they make their margaritas fresh without the pre-mixed syrups. My husband and I each ordered the featured dishes on the chalkboard. My husband had the grilled barramundi and I ordered the yellowfin tuna tacos. My husband is cautious about seafood but found his dish to be flavorful and fresh! He loved every bite! My tacos were fantastic! The tuna was fresh and cooked perfectly, with a beautiful sear that really brought out the flavor. Even my picky eater ate her plate and tried new foods! The atmosphere was very welcoming and everyone was so friendly. If you’re looking for fresh, delicious seafood I would highly recommend trying this place. You’ll be hooked...
Read moreLast night was my third time eating at Fish City Grill and first at the Waxahachie location. The layout of this location is awkward. I understand the need for separate entrances for to go orders. However, it was inconvenient to say the least to have to walk outside and into the main building to use the restroom.
Grow moment- All employees should be trained on all jobs. I waited for 35 minutes while the hostess learned the ToGo person's job on the spot when that person called out. The adults on duty left her to fend for herself which led to 7 assistance inquiries and three reentries of my order. Only for me to catch that I was undercharged. This was the perfect opportunity to show not tell.
Being that I am primarily pescatarian, it is difficult to find non fried options on the go. When I got home, I was disappointed to find my shrimp and Crab stuffed flounder to be less than appetizing. For one, the fish or shrimp, had a strong fishy taste. Secimdly, I couldn't find any Crab in the stuffing. There was also a strange gelatinous binder in the stuffing that made the entree inedible. I stopped trying to eat it when my stomach started feeling uneasy.
The saving grace was the seasonal vegetables along with the lemon basil rice that I was able to salvage with additional ingredients from my kitchen.
All in all, I will not return to this location as I feel it is a management issue and not the franchise. I hope this message is taken as a lesson. I truly enjoyed my previous meals from the...
