Excellent food! Wonderful wait staff, too.
This was a rare occasion where everything tasted good. Not just okay, but like I would make at home. Perhaps even better.
The bread sticks are noteworthy and deserving of a better title. They were wide, long, thick, soft, hot, and fresh. Be sure to order a dipping sauce. My pink sauce was perfection and my friend loved her choice of the garlic and olive oil. She pushed it my direction and marveled at the amount of freshly diced garlic, "Look! I thought those were onions but it 's all garlic!"
The stuffed mushrooms came with plenty of garlic butter for dipping and the chicken picata made my friend groan and roll her eyes heavenward. We ordered another basket of bread and dug in.
Cait, our server, took such good care of us. She saw my friend was not having a good day, asked her about it, and listened to her tale of woe. Sympathetic, not rushed, patted her shoulder when she shed a tear. Cait quickly brought her a beautiful looking bloody Mary. My friend said it was soo good and had a 2nd round.
We left full and happy with doggie bags and promises to return. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Those bread sticks and pink sauce are calling for me. You should go there. Tell your friends. And ask for Cait!
p. s. I was a little concerned about the small size of the interior, but it was fine. I am not a small size, but never felt crowded. And the bar was really...
Read moreWe were really excited to try Roma’s since Waxahachie has been needing more Italian options, and I can definitely see the potential here. The place was packed, which is a good sign, and our server (who was practically running the whole floor by herself) was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional under the circumstances.
That said, the food itself was hit or miss. The pizzas tasted a bit bland and felt thrown together, and the pasta under my salmon piccata was unfortunately too firm and chewy. The salmon and sauce were just okay—could’ve used more seasoning. The calzone and stromboli, though, were the highlight of the table—those we all agreed were very good.
We did order the garlic dipping sauce, but the bread came about 20 minutes before the dip did, and when it finally arrived it was essentially raw garlic swimming in oil, which was a surprise (and a bit overwhelming for $7). By then, we had no bread left to dip. The cannolis at the end were heavy on filling and light on chocolate chips, with Hershey syrup poured over that didn’t quite work.
Overall, it felt like a new restaurant still finding its footing—some dishes show promise, but a lot of details need fine-tuning. Once they get into a rhythm and the kitchen smooths things out, I think Roma’s could really become a staple here. For now, we probably wouldn’t return until it...
Read moreTook the family here today for a late Saturday afternoon lunch/early dinner to avoid the crowd’s of Mother’s Day tomorrow. They have a dining room downstairs or rooftop patio upstairs. We opted for the patio, I was not sorry at all. It is a very comfortable setting with couches, tables, TVs and plenty of shade.
I enjoyed the Seafood Special. My daughter has a cheese pizza, my other daughter had Chicken Alfredo, my husband and youngest had Baked Ziti. We enjoyed the Calamari for an appetizer. Desert included Strawberry Cheesecake, Cannoli’s and Limoncello Cake. My 2 kids had virgin margaritas and I had tea, their tea was extremely delicious and I am known to be picky about tea specifically so I was impressed with that.
We spent $177 for the 5 of us (kids are 16, 13 and 12, they eat like adults) The food was absolutely heavenly, it was hot and fresh. It came out quickly and we had no issues with anything being wrong. The server was incredibly kind and attentive. We sat on the roof top, which wes beautiful and quiet. I’m excited to go back over here one evening with my husband for a date night when it’s all lit up. The garlic bread appetizer that is complimentary was light, fluffy and warm.
I’m very excited to have a place like this in Waxahachie. It was quickly deemed my youngest child’s new favorite...
