The Food from the kitchen was perfect, hot, sizzling, and delicious. However, just walking in I was hit with an overwhelming smell of that deodorant they use to cover up odors, I almost threw up right then and there. Once we got our meal the food the cook prepared was awesome and tasty. The Rice and Beans looked old and prepared. The salsa was nothing more than red water. The guacamole had no flavor, the lettuce was perfect. It was if I could have thrown half of it away and just ate the fresh stuff. The worst was by the time I got home 20 min later I was having sever stomach distress and ended up in the bathroom for three hours. I have had this before the last two times there. This would not come from the food the cook prepared. This is from a contaminant like cleaner, mold, or worse Visine (common waitress trick to punish bad patrons, but I was very nice, I only said thank you). If I were the owner I would fire any waitress with visine in their pocket. There is no way the food I ate should have caused the same symptoms three times in a row, that fast. I would only eat there again if I could only have what came from the cook and a bottle of water. Take two Imodium before you go there if you are planning to go there, you'll probably be fine then. Seriously something is going there that's...
Read moreThis place simply did not meet our expectations for good Mexican Food as the reviews here and their signage suggests. Everything we were served was edible but neither tasted even remotely Mexican or freshly prepared. It was all a little like a pre-made casserole which was scooped out onto a tortilla, topped with a watery tasteless sauce, and cheese. Then being put under a broiler to melt the cheese and heat the plate. The casserole mixture was a lot like the school lunches you use to get in middle-school. The sour cream and guacamole garnish was a nice addition but also at an extra cost. Cost wise this place is pushing the limits for beans, rice and ground beef, being way more expensive than what Mexican restaurants typically charge. Finally, the little something extra item usually associated with Mexican restaurants, the chips and salsa, was unlike any salsa ever and the chips were stale. The 2 tablespoons of salsa served made the monkey dish look empty. It was so watery it wouldn't even cling to the chips. Come on Guadalajara, you can do better than this and probably should before getting a competitive rival who will do authentic...
Read moreNot impressed with this Guadalajara whatsoever..
Service was horrible.. took a while for waitress to even come to our table for drink order/chips and salsa… when she finally got the chips/salsa to our table- took way too long- got one small salsa with our chips- should have a salsa for each person (ridiculous)….we put our order in right away as we’d been waiting a while already... plates did come out very fast (of course as it is microwaved) but portions were small considering the price- not what we’ve experienced at other Guadalajara restaurants. No guacamole or lettuce on plates.. food was warm enough - plates (again of course) very hot but food didn’t stay warm for long..empty plates sitting on table .. never once did she come over and ask if we needed anything else…or how it was… I needed to search her (or anyone else) out to ask for what she didn’t bring that was requested… once finished asked for ticket.. and waited some more.. then finally just went to the front ourselves.. will...
