Been to Boojum a boat load of times and really love their food. I consider myself kind of a burger sommelier, and their smash burgers is my "go to", and is one of of the best around. Their brews are a real treat as well, and they offer a ton of variety and always have a good rotation on the taps. The staff, well they always crush it and are super accommodating, respectful and hard working. Upstairs makes for a great family and friends atmosphere, but if there's something going on in town like a festival or something, make a reservation and checkout the general store across the street, because the wait may be a while...no fault on Boojum, just be prepared to fight a line.
My only real gripe is the down stairs "sports bar". Although there's a reduced food menu for the downstairs, I don't mind it at all because they've picked the perfect items to go with the sports bar theme, and it comes out pretty dang fast. The area is set up to be super dope; pool table, shuffle board table, tons of seating, etc. They have a plethora of tvs everywhere that will have every NFL game on. However, the mood of excitement is immediately terminated by the playing of a low volume depressing blues music. I enjoy all kinds of music to include blues, but at 2 o'clock on a Sunday trying to watch football, it immediately terminates the vibe. You can look around at other customers and there is a glazed bored tiresome look on everyone's face. We have gone here numerous times to watch games and it's been like this at least 3 separate times. I know it probably motivates one or a few of the workers because it's their cup of tea, but it is not good for the football/sports atmosphere. I hate complaining and talking negatively about a joint, but when something is apparently killing a mood and other folks besides myself say something, it's time for a review. I'll stick with Chotchkie's for the atmosphere and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wonāt return. I wanted the fish tacos because there were no healthy food options with protein on the menu. I requested not to have the fish fried. I just donāt eat that type of food. Iāll eat fish in a pinch. I had discussed with the server how odd it was they had fried fish for fish tacos and it would overpower the flavor, she agreed. I mentioned I donāt normally eat fish but that was the only option. I called to make a suggestion and she said she told me there were vegan/vegetarian options that could be replaced ON THE PHONE. The person who answered the phone was my server and said she offered me options. Iāve been mostly plant based/vegetarian 12 years. Neither myself or my date heard her say I could make adjustments. I did ask not to have the fish not fried and she said we canāt do that. I said seems like all the vegetarian options are a heart attack on a plate. So I might as well get the fish and chips because it made zero sense having fried fish on a fish taco š³ would kill the flavor profile. She actually argued with me? I wasnāt aware that there would be substitutions by looking at the on line menu. I canāt believe she lied on the phone, and never mentioned options. Now I feel nauseous because I just donāt eat food that is fried.
Just know if you are vegan or vegetarian you can customize as per my phone call with the rudest person. Itās ironic because I mentioned I would be calling management about the fish tacos and lack of healthy options with protein. She was nice as our server, but on the phone she was obnoxious. So much so I really lost my temper. Nothing more infuriating than someone who lies. She goofed up, and got caught. She never mentioned...
Read moreOn vacation in Waynesville, NC and just had to have dinner at one of the best restaurants there. Great place to dine, have a cold beer and appetizers, but whatever you do this is a favorite of the locals. Big place, they have outdoor dining as well. Always greeted by a cheerful hostess. You can choose to have dinner in the dining room or on the bar, pub side. They have a huge wrap around bar with tables, high tops and they make their own craft beer and sell other beers as well. We at in the bar side and had the nicest waiter with a great sense of humor, Russ you made our dining special, he was right on top of things the whole time. I ordered the fried chicken breast and it was stuffed with smoked bacon and Gouda cheese and then sliced and drizzled with a delicious herb cheese sauce. Also came with smashed potatoes and braised collard greens. OMG, it was excellent and I scarfed it down with no guilt, you must try it!! Hub had pulled pork on top of cheesy grits and collard greens and pickled onions and a cheesy bar b que white sauce on top. Delicious, and he loved and finished it. He drank a Boojum beer with a suble Jalapeño taste, he drank 2 glasses of it, must of liked it. Highly recommend this place, they have a big menu and lots of their food are super cool dishes with a twist. We will be back....
