The food is good and some of it is great, but much is not up to Dairy Queen standards:
The meat for hamburgers is cooked ahead of time, then held in a pan over steaming water on the grill until it sells, without regard to how long it is held.
Gravy is made improperly. Rather than boiling the mix in a small amount of water for a short time, then adding it to the rest of the water required for the portion of gravy mix, gravy mix is simply stirred into water that is below the boiling point. This affects the taste and texture of the gravy when first made, but not that much. It does, however, make the gravy break and become watery when it is held for several hours. Rather than make fresh gravy, they just add some more gravy mix, making it very salty and nasty.
Oil in fryers is not necessarily filtered daily. The fryers are set 25° higher than they are supposed to (max setting is 375° - God forbid they could be set higher) in the mistaken belief that it reduces cooking times. This makes chicken strips, etc., overdone on the outside by the time the inside is done. It also causes the fryer oil to not last as long. Oil is not changed before the day scheduled even if it is black, smoking, and nasty-tasting because it is expensive.
Taco shells, which are supposed to be made cooked fresh to order, are fried days ahead of time
Rather than including the large meat patty specified by DQ, this location uses the same one used to make a Dude sandwich; a huge rip-off.
Large ice cream cones are not used. When a large cone is ordered, it is made with a medium cone and very little ice cream more is used than on a medium. Management doesn't like the large cones because they hold to much ice cream inside. A few large cones are kept on hand to be put out when International Dairy Queen does an inspection.
DQ recipes for many Blizzards are not followed. Chocolate syrup is often left out and employees are pressured to cut the amount of candy used.
Employees are encouraged to make hollow Blizzards where there is a void in the ice cream in the middle of the cup.
For some reason, bananas are refrigerated, thereby making then turn black and mushy quickly. They are still used without regard to their condition.
Employees are not allowed to work for more than one-half hour after closing no matter has busy the restaurant has been. This often causes the store not to be as clean as...
Read moreI visited here today, and ordered fritos chili pie, and it was cold, also ordered Nachos with the jalapeños on them. The Nachos was just chips, a small container of cheese sauce, which was cold as well, and a little container of jalapeños. They evidently don't poor the cheese on the chips nor put the jalapeños on it either. When I brought it back up to the counter and asked the employee why they didn't put the cheese and jalapeños on the chips like the photo on the menu board, he said I don't know let me get the manager. The manager came to the counter and I asked why they didn't fix them like the photo on the menu board and he stated we don't put cheese on the chips nor the jalapeños on it either. I said this is cheese dip and chips not Nachos with jalapeños... he said that's the way they always make them and he wasn't making them the other way... He refused to refund my money for them and evidently he is the General manager of this place.... very poor standards are set at this establishment... I informed him I would be leaving a Google review and he said he didn't care..... if I could give this place a -5 star I would... just...
Read moreLess than one star today. I'm doing them a favor by gifting them one star. I placed my order at the drive thru window and was told to "pull around and they would bring it out to me" so I did that. I sat in my car and waited for a full 15 minutes with no sign of anyone bring my food that I had ordered and paid for. I went inside to check in my order and was told that it was still on the line and had not even started cooking it yet. I asked how much longer it would be and was told they didn't know and that they were very busy. I asked for a refund and was told I'd have to wait for a manager but then was told that the manager was busy and couldn't assist me and that is just have to wait on my food. I could have gone in to a sit down restaurant and gotten my order faster than this. It took nearly 30 minutes from the time that I placed my order at the drive thru window to actually get my food ... AND THEN IT WAS COLD!!! The employees were rude and unkind. The management was clearly lacking. And the food, once I got it, was cold. Most of the time I give a high rating for DQ but today it was LESS THAN...
