This place was recommended by our Airbnb up in Serenity and did not disappoint. We ordered several menu items during our vacation, simply because finding quality food on the go that each family member approves of is so difficult and there is an incredible variety on their menu including great salads and gluten free options. Staff were friendly and food was ready/delivered each time when promised. The only problem we had was poor staff training. For one of our orders, we called ahead and inquired about the outdoor seating. We were told they had several tables on the porch. With approaching storms we asked if we could call ahead our order to ensure we wouldn't have to wait outdoors with rain coming, and was told that was perfectly fine. When we arrived, the hostess was in a complete fit that we were permitted to do this and got the manager, saying something about tips and dine in only. We assure her we would tip as if it were a dine in order. In the picture on Google Maps, it shows a group of four or more seated together on this porch (not to mention I inquired a head of time and was told it was fine), so I began to pull up some chairs at the last table on the far end (also noting there was one couple at the other at the other end of the porch and no one else was outside, so it didnt seem like a big deal to pull up an extra chair- inside was empty too, but we wanted to eat outside since we have an immune compromised person on our party, so that wasn't an option). The manager came out and informed me that they won't allow more than two to dine outdoors per table. Oy vey. A lot of fuss for a 4pm order when the place was dead, not to mention my husband was in the process of ordering alcohol and was planning on buying ice cream for the kids following the meal. Seems like they may have missed out on some $$$. I would highly recommend this place as everyone is friendly (even hostess Karen despite being fussy was super nice about it), the food is excellent- dare I say the best pizza I've had in a few years, and it seemed to be a great family oriented place to eat in the 10 minutes we spent there. Just know (if you're not local and aware of the rules), the person answering the phone may tell you one thing, and after driving for 20 minutes to their location, you will be told something else all together. Here is a tip you won't find on their website as of May 2021- don't order ahead thinking you can dine in (even with tipping for service and being basically the only customers) and there is a restriction of two guests per ticket for...
Read moreWe stopped at Blue Mountain Pizza, in Weaverville, NC for a slightly late lunch this week. From the outside the restaurant isn’t eye catching and inside was not quite as nice looking as the Web Site photos, but appropriate for the location and menu.
We arrived about 1:00 so the lunch crowd was either exiting or had already departed. We were seated right away by our Server/Hostess. She brought drinks and took our order promptly. First the House Salad came to our table and what a salad it was – we shared it but still it was a lot of salad and very fresh, although mostly greens – beautiful and good. As we enjoyed our salad as I watched our waitress (Alisha) hustle trying to service a slow but steady customer flow – inside and outside tables. It became apparent she was the only person “out front” taking care of everything. The “Manager” and back-room staff were apparently along for the ride. Service became slower and slower as time passed due to the Kitchen’s ability to prepare meals.
We ordered a 3-topping large pizza. The amount of toppings was just enough to make it look appealing (would have like just a bit more). The pizza was excellent – the crust perfect and the sauce tasted like a good homemade sauce for pizza should. Pizza is such a subjective food choice it’s hard to recommend one, but if the crust and sauce are done well – the pizza will appeal to most people – and this one was on the “mark”.
We learned upon leaving that this was only our Waitress’s 3rd day – and it was obviously taking a toll on her as customers were not pleased about the wait for their food and one table actually got up and left after a half-hour wait for nothing. Hope she makes it because she had the sort of demeanor that provides a great customer experience.
Would we return...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went here on vacation and I have to say it was astounding! Hailing from Boston with the world famous North End and growing up around great italian food, I must say this rivals and possibly beats it. This small restaurant has small town hometown vibes with big time performance. They do classic Italian correctly.
The food was delicious. I highly recommend the garlic knots appetizer. They were perfectly doughy on the inside with a great garlic oil glazed ontop and melted in my mouth. The chicken pizza was top notch, especially for those who enjoy cheesy pizza with a soft crust. They added a great hint of spice which I believe was black pepper on it which I thoroughly enjoyed. The brownie sundae was absolutely amazing, especially since the brownie remained hot and soft inside even with the icecream on top. The connolli was fresh made and the cheese was creamy textured and it broke apart well into bites. The only recommendation Id make is to add a little chocolate chips to the connolli but thats just a personal preference of my own.
Service was great as the wait staff checked in numerous times and was prompt in taking plates. They were also very courteous and upbeat which made the experience all the better. The manager was on the floor checking in and supporting his staff which is a huge green flag for myself and indicator of a great place.
Overall this is a place that NEEDS to be visited if youre ever in the area and we will definitely return...
