Ghetto Tacos Taco Shop — Restaurant in Webb City

I watched the food network show where GHETTO TACOS won the contest and have been looking for an excuse to go to Joplin. Yes, I was overly anticipating our first visit yet almost always I get let down when I expect good food. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AT GHETTO TACO. The facility was very clean! Management and wait staff were VERY polite and helpful. I wish I could type all caps and underline the review of the food, yes everything was that delicious. I had their mulita, OMG so yummy. My wife had their order of three tacos that were tasty too. We shared each of our meals and the MULITA'S won!!! Also had chips and salsa, THE BEST chips I've EVER HAD and mild, hot and extra hot salsa were oh so wonderful. I don't recommend the extra hot unless you REALLY like hot, I do. Wait staff certainly helped with explaining their menu and gave suggestions which were spot on!

The tacos I tried might have been good had there been even a grain of seasoning in any of the ingredients. There's this thing called salt.. s-a-l-t. If you add a little to a savory dish (or even a sweet one) it greatly amplifies the intensity of the natural flavors. The nachos were better, but it was because the chips had some salt already in them. None of the ingredients in the nachos had a grain of salt either. Really too bad. The ladies doing the cooking and taking orders were all very nice and friendly, they just didn't follow the most basic rule of cooking 101: ALWAYS taste, season, taste till it's right. None of that here today.

If you say "We don't season our food on purpose. People can add salt if they want it." That excuse means you don't even deserve the three stars I gave you.

Ghetto Tacos are among some of the best, of not the best in the local area. With options like Pollo, Asada, Pastor, Chorizo, and Veggie for their consistently fresh-tasting tacos, it's difficult to make the wrong choice. Then, you have the option to add grilled onions or jalepenos, fresh onion, cilantro, and lime. Next, you get to choose mild or spicy salsa. Finally, you enjoy!
