Steven's Cafe — Restaurant in Weehawken

Underwhelming food and service...

Stopped by to get some work done and ordered a black coffee along with a turkey, egg, and cheese on a roll. The cashier mentioned it was grilled turkey, not turkey bacon—fair enough. However, what I actually received was turkey cold cuts...which when paired with piping hot eggs, is an unpleasant contrast.

Service could use some improvement. Despite clearly dining in just a few feet away, my sandwich and coffee was wrapped up and left on the counter. It sat there for a while before I finally stopped work to go check on it, only to have the cashier casually point at it and confirm it was mine. The café wasn’t busy—would it have been too much effort to bring it over or at least call for my attention so I could enjoy it hot?

Food is pretty mediocre, coffee is okay. Got the grilled panini and ham and cheese baguette, the former cold, with cheap American cheese. The latter, a soggy, at least day-old, 6-inch baguette with cheese still cold and not melted, no mayo or mustard as it should be. Felt hastily put together with zero integrity or standards or care for what is being served. With two coffees and a juice, the tab was $45. For that price, in that location and with what tries to be an upscale coffee shop, one would expect much, much better. You can get much better sandwiches at Starbucks and that’s not a good thing for the future of the local coffee shop. Food and coffee came out relatively quickly and staff was friendly and attentive. Absolutely not...

Today I was so happy Steven's cafe was open. they have been closed for about 2 months now it was such a pleasure to have them back in business I really did miss their coffee and delicious sandwiches and desserts. The workers are so pleasant always eager to please and Steven a hands on owner is always there. Everything is fresh and made on a daily basis I also have to emphasize how clean this place is. it is immaculate clean. If you haven't been there I highly recommend it. Again I am so glad they're open again. To everyone out there please support your local businesses . Also they do outside catering which is amazing. I've been to a few of their parties they have catered Really delicious. Also the outside...
