The Highwood — Restaurant in Weehawken

The worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant!

The staff was completely uneducated, not on the same page and very inefficient.

When management stepped in, which I believe his name was Vincent he was also the same. On google it said that the restaurant closes at midnight so we arrived shortly after 9 PM.

The hostess had explained to us if we sat down we can order food by 9:45 PM as the kitchen closes at 9:45.

Waited for our waitress to come over which took a while but finally she came over and took our drink orders and left and took a very long time to come back. When she finally came back it was 9:43.

She said we can put our orders in. So we all ordered and she went in put the orders in. But shortly after she left she came back and explained to us that the kitchen was closed and they were not going to make our orders.

I asked to speak to a manager because we were informed something different.

When the manager came over he completely didn’t understand what was going on he undermined it and didn’t know the facts and the l principle of it all.

He didn’t have the facts in order and he literally just told us blatantly that we’re not gonna be able to make you guys anything. No apologies and no concern whatsoever.

He came over to our table didn’t introduce himself, never said hi, never asked us how we were doing, never identified the problem, he literally just spouted out his mouth what he thought the problem was from whatever the waitress said which was completely not the initial problem.

He says there’s nothing he can do so I explained to him that I ordered a drink and I don’t drink if I don’t have at least a meal because I don’t drink on empty stomach where I don’t have food.

I said I would’ve never ordered a drink if I had known the kitchen was closed there was plenty of other restaurants around that area that we could’ve went to that the kitchen and bar was open.

I asked him what he could do, like what’s easy to make and what is possible that you guys still have back there, like some type of shareable items that we can all share.

He says oh I can do salads but it was five of us at the table and out of the five only two of us ordered salads so the other people that also felt like they didn’t want to drink without food in their stomachs we’re not excited about the salads.

At the end of the day the experience was just not the best and we felt very under valued and not appreciated at this restaurant.

I can’t recommend the food because we weren’t even able to get it but we had the salads and they were salads we could’ve just made at home.

Yet he still charges us for it and didn’t comp a thing, even though we were miss lead to sitting down to order drinks and food and never got the food.

I will never go back to this restaurant. It’s just not a good vibe and a good...

The Highwood food was really good I recommend the sweet and spicy steak sandwich because I was so impressed that gave me a full size steak in my sandwich sweet potatoes with sweet and sour sauce with pickle was so a great combination. The best thing that I also enjoyed was the crispy calamari For a appetizer it was best calamari dish I ever had what surprised that they add chicken , fries ,shrimp, and fish stick with the calamari with two sauce to boot and the lemonade what a great combination with a moctail Piña colada to drink. I would recommend having food there 5/5 stars. I really enjoyed the atmosphere because I’m a New York giants fan and a Yankees fans it was so great to see my fans of my sports teams cheering the team on that was cool. The music was my cup of tea and all the frames and autographs and footballs, baseball bats, basketballs in a display case was cool made me think that it was going to be a great sports. Also I would call this a sports bar and restaurant. Also the view of New York City was so incredible and cool epic because the city was lit up because it was at nighttime! Also the bathroom were very nice clean enough stalls and Urinal! But also need a sign in your restaurant that say no vaping because you need to get the smell out from the handicap bathroom that in the men’s room! But Other than that I still give that 5/5 stars. But here what very disappointing to me the service was verry terrible. The waitress was very rude was new didn’t even know how to speak Spanish. Also didn’t even understand her own menu at the restaurant! She shouldn’t be working there and also the manger didn’t come over to apologize we just came over and say how the food that was a little disrespectful! I was worried that she was going to get the order wrong but it came out perfectly. the service is 2/5 stars! The other thing that disappointed me was the restaurant was near a smoke shop and bar that was so unsanitary and unhealthy environment for some people I could smell a little of smoke from a cigarette and it also unsafe because they smoke and they also drinking not safe for children I would recommend them going but needs to be protected immediately! So that made the atmosphere to be 4/5 stars! I give the restaurant rating 3/5 stars because the service was bad and the highwood restaurant is right next to a smoke shop and expensive too the bill was definitely not cheap!
