I’m a local and I have to say the Wells, ME location is the worse McDonald’s I’ve ever experienced. Tonight will be the last time I use that location as I picked up dinner for my family as it was horrible. Even the kids complained about how bad the food was. I’ll get into that shortly... We have been going to this location for the past 8 years and despite the face lift and recent upgrades inside like most locations; this one really went down hill in the past year or so... I will say, during the day things seem to move a little better hence the 2 stars...
We eat at McDonald’s maybe once or twice a month if that. Our family considers it a treat as its not the best food for your health. However, its what I grew up with and loved!
At Wells, after 5pm expect 10+ mins wait time if you go in and expect worse if you use the drive through. No it is not a busy location in the Winter and this was far worse in the summer... Staff always seems to be stressed out and short of help.
Food is always over cooked and was somewhat tolerable. However tonights meal was burnt and barely edible! The buttermilk chicken tenders are fantastic at every other location. I had to throw most of mine out because they were so burnt I could barely taste the chicken. The quarter pounder had so much salt in it and that too was overcooked, my father couldn’t even finish it. My wife’s chicken sandwich was way overcooked and even after I specified light mayo there was way too much. It’s like the cooks doesn’t even care how the food goes out. My neighbor recently ordered from that location and said the same thing I’m complaining about here...
For some reason their ice cream machine always seems to break. Every time I go back in to ask them to make the food again I have to wait another 10 minutes or if I’m lucky they’ll give me somebody else’s order which is still lukewarm... If you ask them make it again expect to spend even more time.
In closing, the only positive thing I can say about Wells McDonald’s is the staff is very friendly and I can’t blame this all on them. They have never been rude to me or made excuses. However something is seriously wrong with that location. Upper management needs to figure out what the hell it is before I or many others I’ve discussed this with will ever set foot in there again... If you’re driving through head north 15 minutes and you’ll reach McDonald’s in Kennebunk in about 20 minutes south in Kittery. Those two locations will be a far better...
Read moreWorst experience at a McDonald’s. Was visiting wells beach, only way to get my children off the beach was the promise of happy meals on the way back. Placed my order as usual. 2 happy meals both chicken nuggets. A meal for myself and coffee for my wife. The person taking the order was Clearly new. He went back over the order line item by line item. After getting to the 1st window I was given the total. Gave my cc, he rang it and asked if I wanted the receipt. I declined because I have enough trash in my car. Got to the next window. Was given my order minus one happy meal. I told them I had 1 more happy meal. To which I was told looks like only one was rung up. I then informed them that I ordered two. They said well you were only charged for one. To which I said her is my cc I have two kids and I need two meals or they are going to be very upset /sad. She said well you will have to come back through the line. (If u have been towels you will know this meets reentering rt 1 to get back to the entrance. At that time of day rt was was bumper to bumper on all directions for over a mile. I told her I wasn’t going to do that and she can just charge my card and plz bring what was originally ordered. She then slammed the window and got another person. This person came to window. Was incredibly rude and combative from the start. She was larger women with facial piercing and looked like she had no idea how to present her self in a professional manner. Incredibly sloppy look. She said the same thing as the other person and decided to fight with us about how they didn’t make a mistake and our only options was to go around again. This was the most disrespect and rudeness I have ever experienced as a customer. The women even said she was calling the cops because we were not going back around or leaving. The amount of time she spent being combative she could have just charged us for another and retrieved it and left us as a happy customer. I get it everyone is new and learning is a process but when your business makes a mistake you should not make it the customers problem and treat...
Read moresidenote: unsure if the woman who was being considerate of us was the manager or maybe a shift leader, but she certainly needs a better team. if youre reading this, ty for helping us out the best you could!!!.
the employees need to respect their manager more. we waited an hour for all of us ( group of 4 ) to get our food. the coffee had to be remade because it was lukewarm and stale, and my friend couldnt even get her hot chocolate until an hr after we got there . the hot chocolate machine needed to be cleaned out and she kept my friend in mind to make her a new one. we sat there and ate , but the wait was a long time.
meanwhile, i could hear the manager being rightfully frustrated because several people were just not doing anything. the other employees forgot about what we ordered and were waiting on, i would say only one woman on the drive thru was doing her job, and even was going around to the front to help. while the couple guys that were there working were not pulling their weight.
corporate needs to care of their managers , and to care about whos being hired, and whos not doing their job. this is what gives mcdonalds a bad reputation. you cant remodel the place to change the look and layout of the place, while spreading everyone thin and not letting managers have more control over the things that happen. i cannot blame the employees OR the manager, but blame the people who are...
