Beck's Bistro — Restaurant in Wellsboro

While staying nearby, we decided to stop into Beck's Bistro, just after is opened on a Tuesday night. We got a table right away, near the front window, but we noticed that the place was filling up quickly. It was trivia night (which we did not know, but certainly added to the atmosphere.) We ordered from a special Happy Hour menu for the night and were quite pleased with our flatbreads and brussel sprouts ( SO delicious!). We decided that we liked it so much that we'd go back the next night. There was a featured vocalist playing guitar, and the place was already nearly full when we arrived at just about the same time as the previous day. Although the staff here was super friendly and attentive to our needs, it did take a painfully long time for our simple meal to be cooked and served to us. We had no place to go, so it didn't really bother us, but I could see how the delay in serving the food could be an issue with some people. I don't even know where to begin saying enough good things about this gem of a restaurant! The location was perfect for us, a short walk through a quaint and thriving downtown from our lodging. Even though we hadn't made reservations - which we apparently should have done on this Friday night at the tail end of the October foliage season - the hostess found us a table within minutes of our arrival.

We opted for simple, handheld food options, and they were excellent and satisfying. The maple vinegarette salad dressing is definitely worth recommending specifically, and my little side salad was lovely and fresh. The entire cocktail list was enticing, but I'm really glad I settled on the Harvest Apple Cider Margarita. Just... Wow! All the stars to the bartender who created that masterpiece! Only reason I gave 2 overall stars is because I can't tell you how the food is because I never got that far. My wife and I got a pretty hefty gift certificate for this place and were never able to use it. The hours of operation of this restaurant are bizarre and ridiculous. You can't open a restaurant and close half way through the day and open again later and keep good clientele. After not being able to dine in, I tried to use the certificates to try there take out 6 times!!!! Everything my wife and I had pre-selected for ordering take out, they were out of every single time. There menu is not huge. How can you run a restaurant and be out of half of your menu? I don't see this restaurant lasting more than 2 more years at best and I think that may be...
