This was my first time at this establishment and I am sorry to say I was underwhelmed. I showed up expecting a five star, fine dining experience and although nothing was bad or wrong, it was not what I expected. To start, the wait staff were very casual, in dress and attitude. Our waitress, who was trying, just was not knowledgeable about the wine or the food and did I mention was dressed in a pair of Jean's. Even the bar manager that was on that night had very limited knowledge of the wines that they served, which I found disappointing, this is an Italian restaurant after all. We had the crab and artichoke dip with bread for an appetizer and it was very good. The bread was nice and fresh and the dip had a great flavor and was not too overwhelming with the crab flavor as it can sometimes be. The dip had great texture and a very nice buttery flavor. I, so far was impressed but we had not to ordering wine yet. Now for the wine. Maybe my expectations were too high but I expected a wonderful wine list comprised of some excellent local wines (which we have in this area) as well as some great Italian wines to compliment our dinner and maybe even a special reserve list of wines that have been hidden in the cellar for a while. I found none of this, I found a very mediocre list, yes some Washington wines but nothing above average, some Italian wine, again only average, and no reserve wine list. It seems to me that the wine is purchased with price and profit margin in mind and not customer satisfaction. I understand that profit margin is important but customer satisfaction is what keeps people coming back. Being as this place seems to be trying to be a fine dining experience, and selling mediocre wine, at the very least I would have expected the wine to be decanted at our table. Not only does decanting a lesser wine help it tremendously but it just shows a little style. I am sure that if I had asked for a decanter they could have found something for me but I don't feel that I should have to ask, if nothing else it should have been offered by my waitress. Dinner was good, but again just not great as I was expecting it to be. I had the Shrimp and Crab Fettuccini, the noodles and sauce were good. It could have used some more crab but again I do understand price point and profit, the shrimp was good in flavor but were overcooked. I again understand that it is almost impossible to order shrimp anywhere and not get them overcooked unless doing them fresh at home. My wife had the Cannelloni and again, it was just average, the flavor was good but preparation and presentation were lacking. We probably would not have had dessert but it was offered for free as it was my wife's birthday. My wife loves a good creme brulee and they had one on the menu, much to her surprise it came out as a piece of cheesecake, another disappointment. I also would have expected our waitress to offer high quality coffee as an add on with dessert but again it seems that this is not what is done at this establishment. Maybe it was just me and I was expecting too much from this restaurant but I did feel as they put themselves out there as a high quality, fine dining experience and that is not what we got. The place is nice, the atmosphere is good, the wait staff was friendly and the food is not bad, but it just didn't meet my expections. It was my wife's birthday and I was really trying to go all out. We were dressed well and looking for a five star experience and I am sorry to say that is not what we got out of our evening, we will not be returning. I will however say that our waitress did try very hard and did the best she could with what she had to work with. The only thing that disappointed us with her was that she did not do the final check in with us. She had someone else do the final checking with us, ask us how our experience was, and settle our bill. Overall, it wasn't bad, just not the high end, five star experience I...
Read moreWe came here on a whim being in town visiting Leavenworth. The reviews on Yelp were 50/50 good and bad. We called and they said there wasn't a wait. So we decided to try it. Our hotel is literally 6 minutes from the restaurant. When we got there and they said there would be a 25 min wait. A little ticked I said we litterly just called. She said sorry like 6 families showed up We ended up waited 35 mins. We finally get to a table. My BIGGEST COMPLAINT about this place is on their website shows the pricing. It auto shows you the lunch pricing automatically. Once we got there, had to wait and then to get to the table to see the menu. The prices were even more in person. Online it said my plate was $21.00. I got to the restaurant my plate was $27.00!! My husband was $15.00 online and in person was $21.95. Very upset but we were already there and decided just enjoy it. it was very romantic and secluded for 2 or maybe 4 but the table space was extremely small. There was no on silverware or napkins at the table. And we went through our water water about half water through the dinner and it was never refilled. We recieved our small salads before our appetizer. We ordered the artichoke and crab dip with bread. DELICIOUS! had a decent amount of crab, not to greasy. Bread was very soft. Our waitress apologized and sorry your dip "fell through the crack" and sorry it took so long for me to give it to you. 🙄 we got our dinner shortly after. It was decent portions. I ordered the shrimp/crab fettuccine. My husband had the chicken fettuccine. The shrimp was cooked perfect, barely had ANY crab on it. The atmosphere was nice, had a nice bar area. Other then the table service being rushed, the waitress forgetting about our dip and not refilling the water. I'd say it was a decent restaurant. The wait time trick though I call bull on ask we were so close in proximity, it sounds like they were just wanting to bait people in to...
Read moreFirst off, the service for our meal was fantastic. Our server was attentive, personal and charming. The Bloody Mary was probably one of the best we've ever had and also probably one of the best in town. The food was delivered to us promptly as well, with our salads coming out quickly and our entrees an appropriate amount of time after. With that said, there were a few disappointments. Three of the five beers on tap were IPAs, I know, bikers love IPAs but still. The food, especially for the price point, left much to be desired. The "signature" spaghetti and meatballs (at $18/plate) was bland. The marinara was flavorless, essentially crushed tomatoes and salt. The meatballs were hit and miss. The batch was clearly not mixed well because some had virtually no flavor and tasted like they were half tvp while others were good. It is not a dish we will get again. The blackened chicken pasta had a good flavor profile but suffered due to poor ingredient quality. It had diced Roma tomatoes (flavorless), maybe three leaves of roughly cut spinach and did not have the bacon listed on the menu. The linguine noodles were on the chewy side of al dante as well. The seasoning on the chicken and the alfredo sauce was tasty, however. It is a plate I'd happily pay maybe $13 for, but not $20. Also, the whipped garlic butter that was served with our bread (though tasty) was portioned in a 2oz, plastic ramekin with a lid. With a $50+ ticket for two entrees and two drinks, one would think a cermamic ramekin would present much better while still allowing the kitchen portion control. All in all, it was neither a bad experience nor a memorable one. While I'm sure the profit margin on the food cost for those dishes is quite tidy, if you want to charge Visconti's prices, you should also use Visconti's quality ingredients. We will be back to try the...
