A complete waste of your time and money. I'll never go back there. First, the good news: the room was clean and comfortable, and the heat/air worked very well. The TV was ok. The staff were helpful, to the extent they were allowed to be.
Now, the BAD news: this is a hotel trying to be a hybrid; that is, both an 'extended stay place, AND as a regular hotel. Doesn't work. First, what I did NOT have at this hotel: There are no amenities at all; no swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness room, nothing, including NO free breakfast. And, the rooms have almost a full mini-kitchen: A full size refrigerator, hot plate, microwave and sink. But......there are NO dishes are glasses at all! This is a hotel which is just above living in a barracks or camping out. Also, there was no shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or hand-type mirror, the kinds of things that are standard in any other hotel. Even my coffee pot was missing. And....this is NOT a good hotel for seniors, because the toilets are very low to the ground; you have to step pretty high to get into the tub/shower, and there was no rubber no/slip mat for the tub/shower. And....this is not a good hotel for families, because, again, no amenities, no child-friendly stuff. Between not serving breakfasts and not having dishes in each unit, I thought they were trying to starve me in the mornings. And....another Big Minus - the hotel is right by the railroad tracks on 9th Avenue, so you may hear extremely loud chugging, or the clink of the cars in the middle of the night. You're almost guaranteed to hear it, in fact. AND...trains can keep you from getting to the hotel! I went back to the hotel twice yesterday to change clothes and use the restroom, and both times I can to detour a couple of miles out of my way because a very long train was just sitting and sitting on the tracks to the hotel. A tipoff to the cheapness of this place is that's apparently the brainchild of some former Hotel/Motel 8 managers or owners. That tells you something. It was a complete waste of my money, and very frustrating during a trip where I was visiting some very ill relatives and friends. I will never, ever,...
Read moreProbably the single worst hotel that I've stayed at... To get the good things out of the way; the rooms are clean, everything is new and the staff is friendly.
Now for the bad; the price was slightly higher than other local hotels which include a Continental breakfast, workout gym, and swimming pool. My Place doesn't have any of these.
The location choice is horrible as it is right next to a railroad crossing... Although the trains don't honk at this crossing, many of them are equipped with bells that can be heard constantly throughout the night.
No housekeeping... Never been a huge fan of having housekeeping come through my room daily, but it would've been a nice touch if my room could've had a quick vacuum and toilet paper replenished at some point (I stayed here for a week).
And my least favorite thing about this hotel was how it was constructed... It is extremely loud at this hotel. The doors slam really hard, and you can hear them as they close, especially from the floor below you. I got jolted up a few times from this. It also sounds like the flooring was laid directly onto the subfloor without any gyp-crete. I could hear people in the unit above me walking around at 2 in the morning, which kept me up and ruining my day at work the next day. I work in the construction industry, and we can take a sledge hammer to the floor, and you can't hear it below. Here it sounded like people were walking normally, and it was very loud. I ended up wearing earplugs my last couple of nights, and got much better sleep.
On the bright side, the staff were very kind and the rooms were clean. It just feels like a hotel that was built to look nice, but they took shortcuts on noise reduction. I wouldn't recommend a stay here for anyone who is a...
Read moreThis is my first time booking this hotel due to the good ratings. I believe They might have good property amenities But I want to comment on their rigid and no humane customer service. We encountered snow storm when traveling to the area from California and got the weather alert the road is closed and road condition is not safe to travel. Contacted the property at the first time in the morning to cancel and waive the fees when checking the weather. However the property did not waive the feel because it passed the cancel time. The thing is how many of us can control extreme weather and natural risk? This is the time when customer service really shows the value. Not wanting compare with how other property understands the customer concerns first and put the customer safety at the priority over the profit, But contacting the hotel several days to communite and got very bad attitude to "throw the ball" to expedia and talking back and forth ending with "we do not care we only stick to the rules". I do not blame their no-mercy behavior, But feel very disappointed with their attitude and communication and would not recommend it to friends and families. A good customer service did not only show when things go right, But shine more when things go wrong. I would definitely contact if I knew snow storm blocks the road a day before, But how likely can anyone do that? A very bad...
